    Default GameCube Promotional Disc (Pre-Launch)

Found one of these a few months ago in a gamestore's "fill-a-bag-for-$5" bin. One went for around $50 a while back but haven't seen any sell since. Any idea what they're worth or who might want to buy one?

    Here's one of the listings.

    This one sold for $35:

At the same time, another sold for $4.

Guess it's all in how you sell it and a bit of luck.

I would guess that it's not rare in the sense of "not that many made", but they probably are somewhat hard to find these days.

Great, now you're going to flood the market and crash it.

I use to have like 10 of those and they never sold. I couldn't even give them away back them. Today I have one left but it isn't sealed.

I have one of those somewhere too. I think I might've gotten it in the mail direct from Nintendo.

Yeah, I kinda get the feeling that Gamecube collecting is gonna explode in the next year or two as the kids who had one grow up and have disposable income. I unfortunately don't have any income right now, but I hope to soon and I was thinking about snapping up the GC games still on my want list before prices go through the roof.

I've never seen these, but I do think they look cool. Wouldn't mind owning one, but I'd prefer not to pay that much for it. :P

I think you're right, and I also believe it goes for the whole last generation of games. NGC, PS2, and Xbox. Personally, I already collect PS2 games a lot, but I do wish to extend both my NGC and Xbox collections before these games become too expensive. Hell, Xbox games are especially cheap these days. NGC seems to be most expensive of the three(at least from my experience), with the PS2 somewhere in between.

For the most part XBOX is pretty cheap, but good luck getting a copy of conker for a reasonable price X_X. Guess the N64 one's rarity has bloated it a bit.

It's a little early for the GC/PS2/Xbox generation to take off. The NES boom is still in the process of tapering off, and the SNES is only just now starting to get crazy. N64/PS1/Saturn are just barely starting to roll into the nostalgia craze.

In a way it already has. Last month I sold a copy of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for $55 buy it now....used. Many of the GC Zelda and Mario games(along with stuff like Metal Gear Solid: TTS, Ikaruga, Eternal Darkness, etc) are already commanding pretty good money despite some of them having reached players choice status. Right now is the time to get GC games because in 5+ years those $40-$50 games of today might be $80-$100+.

There are always games with high demand that pull in decent money on the used market, even while the system is still current gen. Until a system's games go up across the board, it's not in the nostalgia boom. And this stuff is all very predictable as it's purely a result of kids growing up, getting disposable income, and having a desire to recapture their childhoods, so it's as easy as seeing which systems are currently hot and waiting until it shifts to the following gen. It is a good time to load up on GameCube/PS2/Xbox games, but not because they're going to immediately spike. It's because they're currently about as "uncool" as they're ever going to be seen, so they're plentiful and dirt cheap by and large. Too old to be seen as relevant, too new to be seen as retro.

    This is an excellent assessment.
