    Default when console generations overlapped

I collect many systems, but with the years that pass, my memory starts to fade regarding dates.

Specifically, I am wondering about when N64/PSX/Saturn were officially ended by their manufacturers as compared to what dates the succeeding generation of consoles launched. Were there many years of overlap where PSX, N64, Dreamcast and PS2 competed for sales at retailers, or merely months?

PS1 games were still produced up until about 3 years into the PS2s life. The last 2 PS2 games were just released a few months ago. They are soccer games.

Saturn was LONG dead before PS2 and Dreamcast had a few Japanese exclusive titles released every year up until last year by NG Dev Team and a few other obscure developers. DC was long dead about a year into ps2s lifespan, in the US at least.

N64, I couldnt tell ya, but maybe they had a game or two released around ps2s launch date.

IIRC conker's bad fur day was the last really big N64 game and that was in 2001.

This. I remember the issue of Nintendo Power that covered those. While THPS 3 was cool like the games before it, Nintendo Power said it was best to avoid the Powerpuff Girls 3D fighting game as it was supposedly pretty sloppy. I haven't played it myself to be able to give an opinion.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

Wasn't the third game Paper Mario? I seem to recall the original Paper Mario being among the last N64 games.

I'm pretty sure that came out a little bit before those two.
