Default Do you collect kiddie and girlie titles?

Are you a completist, as in you collect every game for a system, or only games you will play? Are kiddie and girlie titles like Rugrats and Barbie part of your collecting goals or not?

Personally, I don't. I'll never get around to playing them in my lifetime, so I leave them for the completists.

The only kiddie title I ever wanted to get was "Aqua Kids" for Japanese PS2, because its based on a Korean? kids show that was planned for the US but never made it here. Games actually kind of good!

Since kiddie titles are often platformers and the retro ones can be good, I don't mind picking them up cheap. As for GBA era generic horrid licensed games like cartoon network cash-in 50?.....ehhno.

When I think of kiddie games I think of things like Barney's Hide and Seek, or maybe a Sesame Street game. Games in which you can't really lose, and the whole aspect of the game is being extremely easy and accessible for a 3-4 year old.

Stuff like Sonic the Hedgehog can considered a "kids game" at heart, but I just think of them as regular video games.

Only if they're for the NES, and I come across them at a very cheap price.

As far as those go, if I find leapster games for pennies or something, I get them for my cousin in first grade if her birthday's coming up. Besides that, I don't get them.

If you're specifically referring to preschooler games when you say "kiddie" then no.
I probably got a few "girlie" Japanese games, (either suprisingly good or hilariously bad, either extreme). Lost Word of Jenny for Famicom. I know it's like the Japanese Barbie, but for like a buck I can't say no to a game with a girlie doll and a cartoon vampire on the cover art.

Again, if it's in the kosuge category, it'd have to be cheap though.

I did buy the Barbie Horse Adventures game for the Xbox, but only because it was pretty rare and I found it cheap. I've never had any interest in playing it.

As far as kiddie games go, I don't bother. The ones I own were purchased at a thrift store in a plastic bag filled with other more desirable games. I won't go out of my way to specifically purchase one.

Collect them? No, but when doing reviews on my Youtube channel, I like to cover a wide variety of games. It's kind've my theme. So every once in a while I'll pick pick up a kiddie game for cheap and play completely through it. The two I've done are Miss Spider's Tea Party (PS1) and Cheetah Girls (GBA). I was curious about the games as well, since I had never heard about them. While playing them, I kept having this feeling that can best be described as "I'm the only one playing this game in the world right now." So there was like a 1% chance I would find a hidden gem. Neither of the two games turned out that way though.

    Default Nope

I don't intentionally pick up kiddie games since my son outgrew them, nor do girlie games have any collectors appeal for me because I will never play them. That's the same reason I don't collect most sports games either.

If the game is not dumbed down to a "Barney's Hide and Seek Game" level, then yeah, I'll grab it. It also depends on the developer and the type of game.

I won't pick up educational games, for example. But platformers? Sure.

If its a good game, I'll buy it.

Exceptions are brands like Barbie, Mary Kate & Ashley Olson, Bratz, etc. Could be the best Platformer on Earth, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna play a game with those damned twins in it.

Well, I'm not a completist but I guess I collect what some would call kiddie type games. I have a lot of 8-bit and 16-bit Disney games. However, I only collect games I will play. I get the sense I won't like it or won't play it, I won't buy it.

I recently picked up Tigger's honey hunt for the N64. It's not that bad of a game. It's not that great either. I wanted to play a N64 2D platformer and they are far and few between.

Don't turn your nose up to The Little Mermaid for the NES. It's pretty easy, but it's a damn fun game.

Kid Klown in Night Mayor World for the NES is probably considered a young kids game, but it too is very enjoyable.

I've got a small collection of Children's Workshop games (producers of Sesame Street, for those that don't know). Back in the day, the Children's Workshop put out some really awesome stuff, both educational and genuinely fun. I've been meaning to see about picking up the rest of the games they put out from the NES to the Genesis.
