I just noticed there are millions of them out there.
I just noticed there are millions of them out there.
Not really, but if I come across one, I do pick it up.
I collect any and all controllers, so if I come upon them, yes. If not, I don't go out of my way to find them. They tend to take up more room in my small home.
I bought one for xbox360 and modded it quite a bit, and built a couple for old systems.
If I had more cash maybe I'd collect them, but I doubt I'd get much use out of more than a few.
I really only like the Namco Noir panel layout, too, so there are currently only a handful of sticks that I would even want to play on.
The only arcade sticks I own are attached to arcade cabinets. Once I up my saturn or dreamcast collections I might buy one
What is the best stick for Dreamcast?
Thats the one I have! Its awesome, and I use a converter to hook it up to my computer. They have all kinds of converters out there. You should look around for them online.
The stick he has is the only one Ive sen, and it has a dock for the VMU.

Agetec stick, I think.
Pics please.
It's funny that this thread popped up recently because I just modified a T5 PS2 stick with a PSX Dual Shock PCB, Seimitsu LS-58 and Seimitsu buttons. It was my first arcade stick mod and I finished it today. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. Works beautifully. I can honestly say I've been missing out big time. Just waiting for my plexi and artwork. It is going to be Darius themed, with art I photoshopped together. I mainly play shmups, so the stick is an ode to my favorite ship, the Silver Hawk, and the swirling backgrounds of the series.
I absolutely hate joysticks. I started my video gaming on a NES pad, so anything else that isn't a controller with a D-pad and regular buttons doesn't feel right to me. Hell, it was well into the PS2 generation that I would even accept analog sticks, and that was only by force (though now I can't see how I ever did without them), but a straight joystick can to to hell. Though if I had the cash I would collect them, just for completeness, and for friends that like joysticks that come over to jam on my shit.
Yes, I collect any and all joysticks.
Right now there seems to be a sentiment in the gaming that it's either a JLF, LS-32, or nothing.
However, I am attracted to a number of "inferior" joysticks for their historical and sentimental value. I'm looking to collect a JLW, older seimitsu sticks, Wico P360, and the Nintendo joysticks found on the VS sitdown cabs.
Not intentionally so much, but I keep 'em when they end up in my hands. I think most I've gotten in lots or as gifts, but I'll occasionally buy one in the wild if it's cheap and a decent brand. The big problem with sticks is their size, but I also don't really use them much, most often preferring a pad instead. Probably my favorite is the Namco PlayStation arcade stick. Just a really solid, basic stick that's great not only on the PS1 and PS2 but also for emulation (particularly MAME) via an adapter.
The thing about joysticks is that historically, most of them suck.
Hundreds of joysticks were made throughout the 80s and 90s for various consoles, and most of them failed at delivering what they were supposed to: the arcade at home.
Most of them were small, cheap, and mushy. I mean, look at this:
The button layout on this is atrocious, and I'd say the joystick probably uses rubber pads rather than microswitches.
If you press a joystick in a direction and it doesn't make a clicking noise, you can probably disregard it.
By the way, a proper SNES arcade stick would be the Capcom Power Stick. 100% authentic arcade parts from the period.

Hori is my favorite brand by the way.

Huh, I never gave it much thought. Now that I am, I think it might be interesting to collect the different fighting sticks. Granted some are boring, but tracking down the higher quality ones would be enjoyable, to me anyway. Not to mention I like the design/art on most fight sticks made in the last 4 years.
