    Default Dreamcast Internal Battery

Quick question. I need to replace the internal battery in my Dreamcast. Which battery do I need to get? Someone told me it needs to be an LR2023 which I can't find anywhere. Can't I just use a CR2025?

It's some silly rechargeable design so a CR2025 wouldn't work and could possibly leak.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, I even chopped up an old TV remote so that I could have an easy to replace battery tray:

The type of battery is called a ML2032 which is a rechargeable coin cell. People do either replace the battery with a new one with tabs, a coin cell battery holder like in these instructions:

Or with rechargeable AA or AAA's with a holder like b1aCkDeA7h linked.

Couldn't you install a diode so a normal coin cell be used?

    Awesome!

Thanks a ton. I had planned to replace it with a holder as well, just like I've been doing with my carts. Too bad the ML2032 seems to be just as scarce as the LR2032.

ML2032 is Maxell's rechargeable code, if you search for LIR2032 you'll find more options. Normally I carry them but I just sold my last ones today and the restock won't be in for a week or so.

Thanks for the info! Let me know when you have some back in stock and I'll buy them from you.
