Default I bought a Turbo Express

What are the chances the sound won't work completely? In the description the guy says the sound don't work, but I don't know if he means just the speaker or even the headphones don't work. It also comes with an AC adaptor.

Turbo Express and Turbo Duo systems are notorious for having sound failure due to bad capacitors on the circuit board. If you search for it you can find information about which caps to change.

    Here's one-

Alas capacitor failure in Turbo Expresses is pretty much a given. The repair itself is not hard. I found one in a thrift shop for $20 several years ago and did the repair following this Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsIjSm6_08Y
and this guide http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=702.0 . At the time I didn't own any games so I sold the unit on Ebay for a x6 profit. A year ago I found another Turbo Express at a garage sale and it had 10 games and a carrying case. On this one the Video was gone and the sound was so low you could barely hear it. Since I am getting older and my eyesight isnt what it used to be and I didnt know how the video repair would work I decided to have it repaired for me. I found 4 or 5 places on the internet but was worried about sending my unit to someone I didnt know. Surfing various forums I narrowed it down to two places. They were estarland http://www.estarland.com/product35162.html and retrogamecave http://www.retrogamecave.com/turbo-express-repair.html . I went for retrogamecave and paid for ALL the capacitors to be replaced. Took about 7 days. Communication was good and the unit has GREAT sound now. Cost about $84. Been playing Alien Crush daily.

Aha! Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

I have two of them myself, have had them since 95, and over the years one dont work at all, it will power up, but no pic or sound, and the other one will come on and work, but the sound is messed up and volume wont work and cant turn brightness up either. Both of the systems have been kept clean and never dropped..So good luck.

Ok, mine arrived today, the screen is just about perfect with it though I think 1 dead pixel, but the sound is completely dead. Even with headphones.
