    Default New Retro Gaming Podcast

My friend Josh and I just started a podcast about our favorite subject: Classic gaming and game collecting!
We aren't master experts on the subject, but we both have been collecting for around 8 years and have a passion for it.
We are hoping to get some honest feedback so we can make our future shows even better.
The show can be found here: www.RetroRundown.com

Thanks in advance, and any feed back is welcome!

UPDATE: We are now on ITunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...617835610?mt=2

There's something weird about your RSS feed. I can't seem to actually download any episodes using Zune (which is what I use for podcasts)

Have you tried running your RSS address through feedvalidator.org?

It comes up with as a valid RSS, but it has some issues that need to be cleaned up that may prevent some people from being able to download your episodes.

I only know all this because I started up my own Retro Video game podcast about 7 months ago, and getting the feed cleaned up was a bitch.

Thank you, yes I am have a lot of trouble setting up RSS plus we are about to switch to PodOmatic from SoundCloud, so I will have to setup the feeds again. That is why I haven't submitted to Itunes yet. I will check out feedvalidator.org to make sure my feed is fix. I will go work on this now.

    thanks again

EDIT: It may work now. Can you please check and get back with me?

This is a thread I started on another forum. Look at the second post, I posted up links to tutorials that were invaluable to me when I was starting out. They may be of some use in helping clean up your feed.

Downloading now, no issues listed on feedvalidator.org.

Likewise, I'll listen to yours on the commute Monday.

I must warn you tho, the first episode of my podcast is rough. The rest of them are much better structured after I got some feedback tho.

Hey, I've downlaoded the first episode good work so far!

However, you guys made a pretty major mistake when talking about variants. You said that the officially licensed Nintendo version of Tengen's games came AFTER the unlicensed Tengen black carts and therefore the Tengen version were "rare".

This is not true whatsoever. Tengen was a third party the same as any other and in fact, their early games such as Gauntlet and Pac-Man were officially licensed, grey carts. Around the end of 1988, Tengen decided Nintendo was getting too much profit and then made their own unlicensed versions. The officially licensed grey cart Tengen games are thus more uncommon, but they are only slightly more valuable. If an unlicensed Gauntlet is $4, the licensed version is about $6.

By the way, did you get my pm?

I like Retro Game Squad a lot, and I have downloaded the two episodes of Retro Rundown. If you're interested, I also have a classic gaming podcast, which is pretty specific: http://2600gamebygamepodcast.libsyn.com/rss

I subbed to your feed. Looks like you just started too. I an like all the new podcast to listen to. Unfortunately my new mp3 player is horrible.

Mr Mort, I started listen to your podcast today. Learned about Casinos, then my mp3 player died.

EDIT: Fergojisan, Just listened to you first Episode, It sounds great and seems like you are very knowledgeable and I like the format a lot.

Casinos? Did we talk about those? It doesn't ring a bell.

Sorry, I download 4 new podcast all Monday and my new mp3 player is trash. It was a different podcast. I started yours today. Wild Wild West. I only got to Wild Gunmen but I am enjoying it. You guys are more charismatic then our cast and now I want to play Gunsmoke and Lone Ranger.

Thanks, and we could use some honest feedback. Criticism will help us get better.

Also, I am starting to think there needs to be a retro gaming Podcast hub. I didn't know Retro Game Squad and 2600 Game BY Game existed and there awesome.
