I'm bored, so I figure I'd just throw out something random for discussion: What does everyone think are the best and worst controllers ever made. I'm only talking about first-party controllers, I'm sure everyone has has a story about some shitty aftermarket pad they bought, so we'll just skip those. My picks:
Best (In order): XBox 360, Original XBox S/Japanese model, Gamecube, Genesis (original 3 button, though the 6 button is a good pad too), MS Sidewinder PC pad, SNES, NES, Dreamcast (felt great in your hands, but was 2 buttons and 1 analog stick too short for it's time).
Worst: (In order) CDI, 5200, Colecovision/Intellivision/any other controller that has the disc and numberpad setup, Wii (moving away from a conventional controller meant that most PS3/360 games couldn't be ported over and is the very reason that 95% of the Wii library is shovelware) 3D0, SMS (the horrible D-pad just kills it for me), PS1/PS2 (great to use, but they seem to be built out of the same plastic that they use to keep the little prizes in the things you get out of the 25 cent vending machines at K-Mart. Drop them on a hard floor more than once and they shatter. I just can't leave them off the worst list because of the lack of durability). Before anyone says "What about the Jaguar controller?", I've never played one, and in fact don't think I've ever been in the same room as a Jaguar.
Your thoughts?
