Not backing this. Road Rash never had guns and this frankly looks like a very, very generic motorcycle/fighting game that really has very little to do with Road Rash.

I don't want to agree with you because I really, really want a new Road Rash but I do agree. Go back to the basics of what made the game so great and the buyers will follow.

Can I ask you this because although I try to make my game knowledge look vast and impressive and such..... What other games were ever released that were just like road rash american release that is. Because I don't recall another game like that. Closest I can think of is maybe Mario Kart and its knock off games but that was kart racing.

I don't want to agree with you either, but I have to. Road Rash was not about shooting people, cutting off heads, or blowing up their opponents by kicking them into oncoming traffic. I really don't like the that aspect of it alone. Road Rash had memorable music that I still love to hear today. This did look pretty generic and just didn't remind me of Road Rash in the least. The only thing it really has in common with Road Rash is the fact that you're on bikes.

I won't be backing this either.

Speed Kings on the Xbox was similar. There was also Jacked which was released in the US on PC and in Europe on Xbox. In fact, this looks like a port of Jacked from the shots I have seen so far.

Seems like there are lots of kickstarters lately where they try to use the love and admiration for an old game, and basically try to use that to kinda screw people over into backing projects that might not really be on the up and up so to speak. Some of this kickstarter shit needs to start backfiring in a major way to mitigate this a bit. Every other day there is a kickstarter claiming to be the spiritual successor to such and such. Or the spiritual remake or whatever.

The sad thing is, this will probably get the funding.

Besides unlike panhandling atleast you don't have people up against your face going "GIVE ME MONEY NOW". You basically find out about the program and can easily ignore it if you want.

Well, it would be awesome if they had all the original members of the team that made Road Rash for the Panasonic 3DO. If they had all the members of that team (or most of them), and their goal was to basically remake 3DO Road Rash, but make it even better, that would be pretty cool. When people think fondly of Road Rash, most of them are thinking back to the 3DO version and the PS1 port of the 3DO version. The music, the weird art style, the whole vibe of the thing.

Agreed. People seem to have forgotten about all the badly done Road Rash games EA released after the original three.

A ton of companies seek investors before they can take off but when that company becomes successful the investors can make a killing off the money they put in. Is that possible with Kickstarter or not?

Currently it is not possible to receive an equity stake in a project via Kickstarter. That could change in the near future as legislation was passed allowing crowdsourcers to issue equity without having to comply with normal securities requirements.

While I agree this is how Kickstarter and Indiegogo started out, the vast majority of successful projects in the past year or so, at least on the video gaming side, were put together by existing companies and very experienced developers who could find other employment or ways to finance their projects, but choose to use Kickstarter or Indiegogo for a variety of reasons. Frankly, after backing almost 30 projects in the past year, I'm done for a while until I start to see some of the results and regain some confidence that what we are all pouring money into are actually great games and not just nostalgia fueled messes.

There have been plenty of good projects, but now there's a flood of kickstarters for every minor game anyone just thinks about making.

I've never come across actual panhandlers that were in peoples' faces(luckily), so far most just sit on the side with a sign and open container to collect the money. A couple times I've seen some walk around asking for donations but they moved around quickly and weren't yelling. It does feel like kickstarter with all these projects asking for money without anything to really show for it, just concept art.

Kickstarter tends to work best when it's an experienced developer that's wanting to make a game that can't get funded otherwise, such as a game from a now less popular genre.

Now I see a lot of links posted for various projects that seem to be from inexperienced hobbyists that just think it could be a good idea to make something and ask for cash up front. This Road Redemption project doesn't even show in game footage, just concept art is shown. It's not like this is an official Road Rash game either, it's a knock off like various clone games made back in the 90's(think of all the Sonic clones back in the 90's). I'd like to think back to all the freeware fan made games popular mostly 5+ years ago, plenty seemed to be around the same quality of commercial games but were made for free by fans of certain games(like that Streets of Rage game). Now these types of games are on kickstarter asking for money up front. Why would they even have to make the game that good, it's already paid for up front. As long as they release a game they can keep the money, if it's bad they don't lose anything.

Road Rash wasn't even that great to begin with. Sure the early games were still fun to play and I enjoyed them, but if you actually compared the music, graphics, and controls to other games that were out at the same time these didn't really hold up. It reminds me of the standard EA games that always seemed to come out, not the worst games but still mediocre.

I'm cautiously excited about this but far too broke to support. I agree we really need a new road rash I can't believe one hasn't come out in so long last I remember was playing on the psone and before that genesis very fond memories playing that with my brother
