Default Where are these Classic archival game cases from ebay coming from? And where are the inserts?

Here is a link. Not sure if technically this goes in the ebay section because it is related to classic gaming.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/121100007006...84.m1438.l2649

I have a few questions. The first is where can these be purchased?

Second, is their a website with a archive cover project similar to southtownhomebrew to download and print high resolution PDF inserts?

Third, is there a webiste to have the inserts printed for me and shipped? Because sometimes I know with at least printing Neo Geo inserts kinkos can be a pain.

Finally, has anyone used these cases? What do you think about the quality of them?

    The Cover Project .net?

Kind of annoyed when I look for games and half the results are people selling these for $10 each. Feels like a ripoff.

    Thanks!

And you're exactly right it is VERY annoying. That's why I want to do it myself. But I always have issues with kinkos. So I may need to find a at home alternative. So if anyone has any ideas on how to print high quality inserts I would like to hear. I got pretty good at the neo geo ones, but they were so large I had to do it at Kinkos. I have managed to print pretty good dreamcast inserts for dvd cases, but I could never find the good paper like at kinkos and was always unsure if it would fit in my printer.

Head over to the cover project and search around the forums. There's TONs of useful info about how to print, where to print, etc.

The Universal Game Cases can be purchased in bulk (100 at a time) on a site called media shelving.

The cases are nice, but I have two issues with them. They do not old NES games, and they are clear. I have a single black one which came with a SNES game I bought, and it looks great.

Yeah , they're a pain to modify in order to use for NES games

But here's a fellow on TCP who's working on his own line of game cases (Seymor Onion). He's making good progress...

Can we do that? Which ebay rule are they breaking? I would love to jump in on that bandwagon. I do a lot of my ebay searching at work on my phone and searching cheapest to most expensive I always have pages of this crap to wade through.

Of course we can. They're reprinting copyrighted material and reselling it. That is a clear violation of eBay's rules, and the law to be honest. It's like selling copied DVDs.

My entire cartridge collection is in these universal game cases. In fact I've gone so far OCD that before I purchase a game I check TheCoverProject.net to see if there's a cover for it before I buy it. Even all my Atari 2600 games are in these cases, they've made my collection looks many times better plus it really helps keep the dust off the connectors.

    ^^^ Same here.

I take it one step further though and toss a silica gel packet into each case too in order to make sure the air inside is nice and dry

That's not a bad idea, I haven't done that but I do have two dehumidifies running 24/7 in my game room.

I love that I'm not the only overly obsessed one here.

Yup, same here (2 dehumidifiers, in a basement/man cave).

Oh yeah, obsessed is the word for me Don't know if you're aware, but I spend a LOT of time on TCP

lol I read this the completely wrong way at first, thought you meant you wanted to get in on selling them.

and yes, these and the PS1/PS2 cases are annoying clutter. I wonder if half their sales are from idiots who think they're getting the game for $10.

I've been wanting to do this to my collection. I have three cases of UGCs but I'm waiting for those Onion games cases to come out as they sound like they would be much better for Nintendo cartridge based games.

I've clicked on a couple thinking they were original N64 boxes.

2600 games fit in these cases? I might have to consider ordering a case.

I think about the only games you can't shoehorn into a UGC are MVS and AES carts. Most anything else will fit with some modification.

I have about 2/3 of my SNES carts and maybe 1/2 of my NES carts in those cases. Modifying them for NES carts isn't too bad if you've got a dremel.

One neat thing about the custom inserts on TCP is that some are designed to line up on the shelf. Like Megaman 1-6.

I've learned that excluding listings that contain the word custom (add -custom to the end of the search) hides most of them.

Haha, you and I would get along great.

(Same here as my game room is in the basement and I want to make sure I keep everything in excellent condition. And like you I just had a son two months premature so having my game room in the basement where I can play without having to worry about the volume is great.)

You definitely win though as you've worked at putting multiple cases together to hold portables.

And yes I see you continually on the forums over there. I have personally posted very little over there, so far I've mostly spent all my time reading through the forums gaining tips, tricks, and so forth. I wish I had the skill to create the covers myself so I could actually do good for the community there.
