    Default Soul Caliber

Anyone know the specifications as to unlocking the secret characters and others here? I unlocked Hwang already but wondering what else is there...

Just keep beating it with every character, then go through the entire story mode.

There are a few crazy things like beating some stage with some person in a particular outfit, but I don't remember any of that.

It's Soul Calibur. Ur, nor er. It's kinda like the Samurai Shodown thing....anyway, don't forget the quest mode too. You'll find tons of stuff there too, but all the characters are unlocked during the aracde mode.

Actually I've been enjoying the Mission Mode. Gives me a chance to better learn the controls on the crappy DC gamepad. The Prolouge scene are nice too.

You know, you can always head over to gamefaqs.com -- always the best source for solving your gaming problems.

And I thought Soul Calibur played fine on the DC pad. It was the only fighter that actually played well with that joypad (Third Strike and VF3 were just a chore).

Beat normal mode with all the different chars to unlock new chars. And story mode to unlock a ton of other stuff.

Actually I'm gonna second that- I really haven't had any difficulties handling the controller while fighting outside of getting some the buttons mixed up. The little animations in the VMU of your character while you battle are good for a smile as well.

Anyone else find yourselves breezing through the fight son lower difficulties?

I remember that the Arcade mode was a breeze, but the real meat and potatoes was the Story mode (or whatever it's called), with all the different challenges and points towards the museum.

Fighting games are supposed to be played between people, anyway. The computer is just a cheap stand-in.

Actually I have been noticing the Arcade mode is kinda easy, and I usually suck at fighting games, especially some 3-D ones where it's harder to pull off the special moves.

I have been enjoying the Story Mode though, still gotta figure how to get that unblockable attack done on Edge Master. Also bene noticing they get harder sometimes as you go through them a 2nd time and beyond.

Yeah its very easy. But story mode is awesome for single player in a fighter. I played SC2 in the arcade and beat it first time, so I guess namco didnt learn to much from their mistakes.

SC2 is a fine game, of course, but it just didn't have the same impact that the Dreamcast original had. Namco just didn't change anything. Meanwhile, Sega made their usual encyclopedia volume-sized changes with VF4 and Evolution.

Oh, well, it's just another reason for Dreamcast owners to laugh at everyone else for being so behind the curve.
