It's a US store chain, it's not in Canada. I'll post a link to their locations. There are a few stores in Canada called Half Price Books but I believe they're unrelated to the US chain talked about here. From what I can find the US chain is 41 years old, yet the small Canadian one has been around since 1992.

In Canada we don't have any used stores that nice besides independents, most used store chains I know of are thrift stores and it's kind of a rule that everything has to be disorganized or using horrible fixtures that look pulled from a dumpster. Finding actual independent used bookstores is hard enough out here, seeing ones with displays as nice as a collector's personal display is rare.

I sometimes see that people do get deals at HPB, but not around here.
I don't see much in the way of gaming at HPB here either although they always have a few things that aren't absurdly priced. I usually end up with a couple books and a DVD or such though. I also had a huge score with some vintage Japanese Lensman model kits at $5.00 each a few months ago. Those have been selling well on eBay with one going for $95.00 and another for $45.00 so far. (two left if anyone is interested)

Yes, those were really at the Half Price Books on HWY 6 here in Houston. They were all between $4 - $6 each. I would have bought them all a few years ago, but I recently thinned out my collection and kept the good games and got rid of a bunch of the less cool ones. None of the games on that shelf really captured my interest. So I left them for someone who might be a little more enthusiastic than I was.

I lived in Canada for a few years, and no there are no HPB up there. In fact, the classic game market is pretty niche up there and most of the stuff I ever found was pretty overpriced.

I'd have nabbed Pandemonium and Bug! at the very least. Saturn platformers are becoming expensive and harder to find.

Hit up Half Price Books and the Movie Exchange shops. Also maybe a flea market if you come on the weekend.

I'd have picked those up along with Sega Rally, Daytona, and Last Gladiators Digital Pinball. I absolutely love Last Gladiators (to the point where I did an almost-all-night score attack for it), and I'd love to see what KAZe can do with some of these newer consoles. Yes, there's Zen Pinball, but I have a soft spot for Last Gladiators.

Sega Rally and Daytona are great if for nothing else than the music. Of course, Daytona got a remake for PS3/360, so maybe try that?

    Hey guys,
Just bought an original Magnavox Odyssey complete with 2 Controllers, and tons of overlays. It is dirty but does not seem too difficult to clean to make it look very good. I bought it for $80.00 from an elderly couple. Im sure is I over paid for it. Ive seen them go on ebay for $200.00 and up. Did I get a goos deal?
    Thanks Guys

Yes and no. If you wanted to add it to your collection that's a decent price for that model and antique machines (pre Atari) are hard to find in the wild. But cleaned up and fully working I don't see it going above 150 on eBay. Take the fees out of that you'd still make some money but for the effort of screwing with really old systems I think the margin is too low on it.

Unless 2 bidders decide they must own it. In which case cha-Ching! It happens.

In that case you made out fine. Clean it good, get everything running and then enjoy it.

Default Model M and more in an old warehouse!

Found an IBM Model M (Part no. 59G780, a very obscure and rare model number), from 1993, with the original detachable cable, all keycaps, and a drainage channel. Plug in perfect shape as well. I opened it up to vaccuum out any cobwebs (it was in a warehouse in a pile of junk) and a I am using it right now. It works perfectly and is my new favorite find.

    Also found a vic-20 and a tandy 1400LT.

I would have photos but sadly my camera was recently stolen.

Posting this now because I found it in July (not august).
