I thought the sale this year was pretty weak. At least if you're like me and don't want to spend more than $5 on anything. Only thing really amazing I saw was the New Vegas Ultimate edition.

Hopefully the winter sale will be much better.

Thanks for the insights, Jorpho. No endless mode?! Failing to include that from day 1 in a puzzle game seems... unfathomable. Thinkin' I'll just stick with any of the other versions of Magical Drop out there.

Picked up Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition @ $4.99 yesterday and Faster Than Light @ $2.49 this morning. Since it seems there won't be very many deep discount surprises left, I'm trying to decide between a handful of lower profile titles before the sale ends, the demos of which have all been rather enjoyable. Any opinions out there on the following would be appreciated.

    - Defense Grid: The Awakening
    - Noitu Love 2: Devolution
    - Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
    - Tank Universal

Recettear is a fun little game. It balances typical RPG dungeon-crawling with the mercantile aspect of running a shop. Gaining levels by successfully buying and selling things at prices customers want is a clever idea, and the bonus modes you get by finishing the game are fun. There's really no way to lose the game, either. If you fail to make a loan payment, the game takes you back to Day 1, but you keep all the items and experience you've accumulated, so the next pass-through is easier. When I picked it up, months ago, I got it for about $6.75, and I'd say it's definitely worth that price.

Has anyone played StarForge? It looked really interesting, like Minecraft except more atmospheric. I've been looking for a good game based on exploration for some time.

I'm crossing my fingers that Civilization V: Brave New World will drop in price before the sale ends. Even if it's not much (I know a while back it went down to $20.99), I want to get the most out of the money sitting in my Steam wallet.

Right on, thanks for sharing your impressions of the game. I'm holding out hope that it comes up in one of the last flash sales, but failing that, I may just go for it anyway in the final hours.

By the way, in case anyone's interested, the Fallout Collection (1, 2 & Tactics) is included in the current flash sale and it's priced at a nutty $2.99. That's the cheapest it's ever been on Steam.

I'm kinda pissed off that the Ys series didn't get a daily this time around. >:\

However charming Recettear may be, it is definitely not at its cheapest price at the moment and you might as well wait.

I hear Noitu Love is excellent. I can't believe I paid ten bucks for that once.

That may have been true at the time you posted, but it is currently 60% off until the end of the sale (which is 2.5 hours from the time of this post), meaning you can grab it for 8 bucks. You can also get it in the Carpe Fulgur Collection -- which includes "Chantelise - A Tale of Two Sisters" and "Fortune Summoners" for $12.49.

$8.00 / 60% off is certainly nothing to sneeze at, but Jorpho's right -- the game's not at peak bargain level, and yeah, patience will more than likely be rewarded with this one. See here for some absurdly useful pricing data: http://steamsales.rhekua.com/view.ph...steam_id=70400.

In these dwindling moments of the sale, I snapped up the last of it and rounded things out to a near even $20. These are all games I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with, and I hope everyone feels similarly about their Steam summer hauls!

    - Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition @ $4.99
    - Fallout Collection @ $2.99 (also grabbed one o' these for my brother as a gift)
    - FTL: Faster Than Light @ $2.49
    - Noitu Love 2: Devolution @$1.49
    - Rock of Ages @ $1.99
    - Super Sanctum TD @ $0.99
    - Tank Universal @ $1.24
    - Wizorb @ $0.74

I sold £4 worth of cards on the market and got Medieval Total War II Complete in the dying seconds of the sale.

It hasn't really been the best year for the Steam sale.

I thought the sale was decent enough. But then, I don't have too many current games on this here laptop, so I have more ground to cover than some people.

    Games I Bought:
    BioShock
    BioShock 2
    Dishonored (plus all DLCs)
    Evoland
Fallout: New Vegas (plus all DLCs)
    L.A. Noire (plus all DLCs)
    Resident Evil 5
    Terraria

I bought Civilization 5 Gold Edition as my first ever Civ game, and man am I having fun with it. Everything I've read couldn't possibly be wrong because I find myself falling into that "just one more turn" rut everytime I launch it. I end up playing til the wee hours of the morning before I realize the time.

It would seem, my friend, you've become hooked on Civ. As a kid in the 90s, I remember playing Civ II a lot on our DOS computer and it having the same effect on me. When I got older, I quickly fell in love with Alpha Centauri and Alien Crossfire for the same reasons.

I never played Civ 3 and was very unimpressed with Civ 4, but Civ 5 is an amazing game. I'll get around to buying the Brave New World expansion eventually; just waiting for it to go on sale so I can maximize my Steam wallet.

I had several items in my cart on Saturday night but ended up putting together an entertainment center and forgot to purchase them. I guess I'll have to wait for the Winter sale.

I am glad I procrastinated on Ys Origin though. It's cheaper this week on the Midweek sale than it was last week. I may end up getting all 3 Ys games for just a hair more than what Origins would have cost me.
