I feel this is the best NES repair guide on Youtube, it covers everyting from*Boiling the Pin connector, Clipping the lock out chip to end flashing, and a very effective cleaning method. Let me know what you guys think of it.

The reason the console is "flashing" is because the cartridge is not making a proper connection with the console. Disabling the lockout chip is basically treating the symptom not the problem...

You didn't notice the excessive amount of overkill I used "blowing into the cart" it was a joke making fun of blowing into it......

That is why I boil the pins, simply clipping the lock out chip buy itself would be dumb. This is an overall repair not a single mod!!!!!

Perhaps, but people watching the video might not understand that blowing in the cartridge is part of the problem and shouldn't be done. Mentioning that at some point in the video might have been helpful to people. Also, I would have mentioned that you should properly clean all your games if you're going to bother doing this to your NES. In fact, my NES has never been cleaned. And I've not bother to do any refurb on it, despite the fact I've done it for quite a few other people. It had a lot of problems playing my game until I opened each one up and gave it a proper cleaning. Now all of them work the first time every time.

I must say that I was pleased that you mentioned the little tab on the bottom of the cage that needs to go under the main board. I've not seen a video yet that does.

You might know that, but in your video it seems like you're saying that the lockout chip is the cause, not a symptom. You don't mention the problem of the pins not making contact with the cartridge.

I chose to omit (what I felt) was non-essential technical jargon, and instead use comedy to reach a broader audience. I make the assumption that the viewer already knows how to properly clean their carts which is why they would be watching the vid in the first place. As far as the video making the lock out chip more important, I disagree..... I think boiling the pin is far more important. I spend 1:20 talking about the chip and nearly 4:00 talking about boiling the pin. So....... I don't really know where you got that false notion. You two are more then welcome to make response videos though!!
