    Default Saturn Reigon Modding

not asking how to but asking if there was a easier and / or better model or version to reigon mod.

oval, round button, what ever. just a thought before i dove in to one of them.

japanese saturns seem pretty cheap though so that was another thought aswell

I don't know about the hardware specs, so I can't help there.

I do believe that the first run Saturns (oval buttons) were easy to do the disc swap trick on. That could be something to look into if you're still looking for options.

The model 1 is indeed easier to disc-swap with because of the disc-read led.

The model 2 however tends to be what most of the surviving/current mod-chips are made for. These same chips can apparently be modified for model 1 but adds some difficulty.

That said, if you're just looking to make it region free? (not playing backups) Check out the Action Replay 4 in one...found places such as: http://www.play-asia.com/action-repl...en-70-1b2.html

I consider it almost essential for the Saturn owner, lets you play any region games, gives you the expansion ram for Capcom fighters, is a save backup cartridge (not directly accessed by games, but great for backing up, the internal save battery in the saturn WILL die every few years), and you can put in cheat codes. Very recommended
