    Default Famicom-to-NES converter issues

Got a package with Famicom games today (including Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy III). Problem is, my three Famicom-to-NES converters (1 Honeybee, 1 T89 and 1 with the generic "Game Converter" name) are all working bonky on my NES toaster. I managed to make one game work, but not the others, and I'm wondering what needs to be done to make it work. I do have to point out that the NES' tray is set a bit too tight (from when I replaced the pin connector, several years ago). I wonder if that may be a factor? Any idea, aside from chasing yet another converter (including searching hi and dry for early NES carts that have thme) or getting an actual Famicom?

Interestingly enough, while searching in this forum, I stumbled upon the thread about the NES stiff tray issue. I tested the trick about not lowering the tray with a NES cart, and it worked. When I did the same with the Honeybee converter, everything went fine as well.
