Unhappy SEGA remakes that could have been

    http://segabits.com/blog/2013/08/27/...sega-classics/

SEGA Australia, which designed the Castle of Illusion remake, is closing at EOY. They had also pitching SEGA on remakes of Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage!

    stupid SEGA!

Im a big sega fan, but really I dont think altered beast, shinobi and golden axe remakes would have done well at retail, these games didnt age very well. But remakes of sonic 1-2-3 HD, phantasy star 4, vectorman could have been cool. But really sega needs to make GREAT sequels to all their franchises before they are all forgotten, kids dont even know most of their franchises and making bad sequels like the last golden axe wont help them at all. Sonic all stars was definitely a step in the right direction, the best sega game i played since dreamcast.

I think the plan wasn't for retail releases, but downloadable titles. Maybe a compilation retail later?

I think that Golden Axe games looks like a lot more fun AS IS than the finished Golden Axe game we got this past generation.

Maybe the real strategy is to make reboots instead of remakes. I would love to have one for the Phantasy Star franchise. remakes may tend to be simple graphic upgrades (at least when it came down with Phantasy Star).

Why did sega kill the story driven, one player, awesome rpg that is the phantasy star series? PSO was awesome, but they should make PS5 im sure there's still enough fans to make this a multi million selling game. Sega can still make a great rpg, just look at Valkyria Chronicles. Or maybe hire level 5 to do it?

I just wanna know who the hell over there decided they needed a new RPG with a heavy emphasis on airship combat...that's not a Skies of Arcadia sequel. Why?
