    Default September 2013 Finds

Hit the flea market today and found a pristine looking Pink Goes to Hollywood on Genesis for $10. I might have over paid a little but it was in excellent shape overall.

On the way home, we stopped at a Gamestop and got some items on the B2G1F sale including Dragon's Lair on DS, Gundam: Crossfire and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom on PS3.

Default Yard Sales 8-30&31-13 & Flea Market 9-1-13

True Crime Streets of L.A. (GameCube, Complete) - .50
    Command & Conquer: Red Alert - Retaliation (PS1, No Manual) - 1
5 DS Cases & Manuals (No Games) - Free

PS1 & GC games were asking price and DS games were a buck each but when I pointed out that they were empty they were going to throw them out so I asked if I could have them.

Xbox (System Only) With Xbox Remote - 4
3 SNES Games With Mario Paint Mouse Pad - 13

The Xbox was 3 and the remote was 2 and the guy offered to do both for 4. No price on the Mouse Pad and when I asked it was a buck. The SNES games were 5 each but when I asked about doing better offered to do 12 for the 3.

Random finds at a thrift store. Not the usual console game fare but I thought they were neat.

Sega CD games - guy asked me to make him an offer. I had no idea the values on them and wasn't going to look them up so I guessed $40 and he took it. Pretty good deal although I probably could of got them for less.

Sega CD - $4, For parts not working. Funny thing was this was from a video game vendor and I bought it for the attached Sega Model 1 extender (not in pic). He said he didn't try too much and thought the disc motor was bad. I changed the fuse this morning, works perfectly.

    Ultima, Wizardry - $10 each

    Sonic - $2

Super Gameboy, Kirby, Link, Miner 2049er, Kid Icarus - $5 each

I'm not sure on the value of the other games but Robo Aleste is probably worth most of that price alone.
(which makes me think I should consider getting a copy sooner than later)

    STREET FAIR/Garage Sales..

I didn’t get out early to these town-wide garage sales...I had a race Sunday.
My dad had and found a Coleco Pac Man for $1.00

I did hit a lot of garage sales but prices on game items were high..too high..

One sale I picked up these controllers for $5.00

I picked up all these card packs for 25 cent each..(brings back memories)I found one pack, then two more...then a bunch in a bowl”whoa”..then a few more here and there...

    Ran into a vendor I know,well a few..
Got these misc games cheap to resell in lots,...

with a bunch of other items I picked up at the street fair to resell..

I picked up this Sega Game Gear collection off Craigslist in the Sub-$100 range. 94 different games, manuals, Blue system. Very nice guy who knew a ton of information and I wish I could of stayed longer to talk to him. Every thing is in excellent shape, the games and even manuals are in alphabetical order. Lots of different stuff, Multicarts (cant get either to work, If someones knows a trick, let me know), Japanese and European imports, Codemaster games. Have had a lot of fun going through the games. Some of the titles are James Pond 3: Operation Starfi5sh (can't find much on this), Tails Adventure, Crystal Warriors, Micro Machines 1+2, Mega Man, Defenders of Oasis.

Wow, that's a steal of a deal and at $1 per game the system was free. Awesome find - very jealous...

Terrific find on the Mega Man. That one is elusive sometimes, and you stole it. It's worth about half of what you paid for the entire lot, based on what I'm seeing currently on eBay, so good job!

Hit up my local shop today and did some collection fill-in. The Caveman Games copy goes nicely with the random Cavemen Games box I have (not that it's worth much. I've never played it but I'm assuming mediocre at best as it's a Data East title).

These were all about $4 apiece, with the exceptions being 10 Yard Fight and Caveman Games which were $3. The FourScore was 9.99, the boxed NES Max was 9.99, and he gave me the cleaning kit (which has never been used. Still sealed inside), for free.

Not a bad day. No rare finds but some things I consider neat.

    Panzer Dragoon(SAT)
    Darius Gaiden(SAT)
    Three Game Pack(SAT) sealed
    Mario Super Sluggers(Wii)
    Biohazard 0 demo(GC)
    Tetris Axis(3DS)
    TRU Demo sleeve(PS1)

With the exception of the Biohazard demo the rest of this stuff came from two different Goodwill's. Tetris was a Target clearance and the Saturn games and Wii games were mixed in with the dvds and games. There were a bunch of Saturn long case titles and it looked like someone donated their collection. But most of it was sports titles and a few other things not worth picking up. The three game pack is still sealed. Mario Super Sluggers is missing the manual. It was sitting next to a case for Super Smash Bros. Brawl but inside was a disc for Wii Fit and the case was pretty beat up so I left it. I wish I could have found Panzer Dragoon Saga instead of PD but it turns out that game is worth something too. The TRU demo sleeve was missing the disc but I have needed this sleeve for about 10 years from when I originally found the disc. So now my demo is finally complete.

Hit a few stores over the weekend since almost every one was having some sort of Labor Day sale. I didn't get anything super fantastic, but here are some highlights:

Movie Trading Co (Buy 2 get 1 free):
NBA 2k2 (Dreamcast) - leaving me only 10 games left to complete the US DC collection!
5 Xbox games - nothing special, just more for the collection.

FX Game Exchange (Buy 1 get on 50% off):
    Dragon's Lair (3DO) - with long box
    Gyruss (5200) - loose
    Activision Decathlon (5200) - loose
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter (Saturn) - Japanese complete
X-Men vs. Street Fighter (Saturn) - japanese complete
Call of Cthulhu (Xbox) - another tough one that I've been looking for!
    6 more original Xbox games

    Good times!

I've had my empty Pole Position cabinet out at two yard sales for both free and $10 (back and forth throughout the day as, you know, sometimes a free item gets no interest) and it's still in my parent's garage. And mine is clean, in good shape, top repainted, vent repainted, inside sanded and disinfected.

Sadly Pole Position cabinets, regardless of orientation, are a dime a dozen. Atari manufactured a crap ton of them and the boards were problematic from day one. Most had a Matsushita monitor which was a total pile as far as arcade displays go, so that's usually not even worth salvaging out of a complete cabinet. The twin ARII boards are also fairly problematic but those are a relatively straightforward parts replace for repair. The PCB stack is where the real problems lie. In fact there is a long running project to build a more efficient, reliable, multi-game PCB as a drop in replacement solution.

I paid $50 for a complete but shitcanned PP years ago, stripped it, sold the demolished boards to a restorer who wanted to salvage the custom chips, cleaned up the control surfaces, rebuilt the pedal and did a clean and seamless MAME conversion. Since it seems to want to stay with me, I now plan on re-doing it as a multi-driver with a PP cockpit pedal assembly (accelerate and brake), four position earlier era Atari shift (expands the number of games I can run since a stock PP shifter only has a single switch for high gear, board defaults to low) and an analog encoder (originally I was using a straight up microswitch for the accelerator).

It didn't turn out too bad for doing the conversion as cheap as possible. Example: all control surfaces are driven by a single hacked mouse: left / right scroll for steering, left click for shift high, right click for accelerator - coin was a hacked keyboard, just the single button.

Take note how big the cabinet is once home - fully populated PP cabs weigh about 300 pounds and are extremely top heavy.

I can, however see that cabinet going to someone looking for specific parts for other PP restos. PP panels have jumped up in price a little and the now higher shipping rates don't help. Some people still pay a few bucks for the cockpit shroud if it isn't cig burned to death. Marquee, coin door, looks like it may have some of the harness... it could be parted out and you'd probably make about.... $50.

Had a Dentist's appointment yesterday then ran around a bit to try and grab a couple games before I needed to pickup my daughter from daycare.

2014-09-05 Finds Misc by xelement5x, on Flickr

    A couple complete Xbox games:
    SWAT
    Starsky & Hutch
    Unreal Championship

Plus Neon Genesis Evangelion Volume 1 Platinum Edition. Picked this up to ask Hidenori Matsubara to sign it at NDK (anime convention) next weekend!

2014-09-05 Finds - Gamestop by xelement5x, on Flickr

    Wii Music (Wii)
    Cursed Mountain Special Edition (Wii)
    Link's Crossbow Training (Wii)
    Steel Diver (3DS)
    Dream Trigger 3D (3DS)

Some stuff from Gamestop, the were doing a 3 for $10 and I grabbed the 3DS games and Wii Music, Link's Crossbow Training was a whopping 44c. I already have the regular Cursed Mountain, but it's a good game and this LE was pretty cheap too.

2014-09-05 Finds - Retro Store by xelement5x, on Flickr

    Mighty Max (Genesis)
    Legendary Wings (NES)
    Silk Worm (NES)
    The Legend of Kage (NES)
    Viper (NES)
    Starship Hector (NES)
    Warhammer Dark Omen (PSX)
    T-Mek (32X)

Finally went the local retro game store near me again and grabbed a couple things, they were doing a promo of buy 3 get the 4th free. Hopefully I can sell that T-Mek to cover the costs of the other stuff I got there!
