Default SNES to Super Famicon JNTSC

OK I did do a search first "SNES to SUPER Famicom convertor" and also adapter.

Will a a european PAL adapter that allows SNES games to be played on a PAL console work as an adapter for SNES to Super famicom JNTSC?
I know about the game genie mods and the various other convertors. It seems the only ones I can find are for PAL systems.

The only difference between a US and Japanese cart is the shape of the cart. If you have a Game Genie, the simplest thing would be to dismantle the case, and plug it into your Super Famicom cart slot. It might not look pretty, but it should work. If you have the SNES cart security screwdriver bit, you can also dismantle your carts, but I admit this is probably not a very convenient thing to do.
<Evan_G> i keep my games in an inaccessable crate where i can't play them

I have the cartridge screw. I was just going to buy a bunch of cheap Japanese games to use as donors. IF I come across a cheap game genie I might get it. I would kind-alike to have a convertor though.

Or you could open the SNES console and file down the two tabs in the cart slot that prevent SFC carts from fitting.
Then you don't need to buy donor carts and you get compatibility with expansion-chip games (which Game Genie won't).

I own just one USA SNES game. For those times I actually want to play it I swap the casing with an SFC game then swap back when I'm done. (If it isn't clear, I play on an SFC.)

I'm not sure if there are pass-through adapters that fit the SFC slot though. I hope you don't cut your SFC casing.

Yeah the uncommon NTSC adapters are "dumb" extenders, don't actually do anything.

    Here's what you need:

It's a pain to find one of these, but if you have a big SNES library, this is a worthy investment.

PAL adapters should work usually. You'd just be using an NTSC game to read lockout data from.

Fancier games mentioned earlier won't play on that one, it lacks the extra pins.

Don't buy a PAL adapter unless you live in PAL land and only have access to a PAL SNES.

Since you live in Japan, look for one on yahoo Japan, or import one from South Korea like I did.

A Pro Action Replay will do the trick, and it'll play special chip games, AND it'll act as a PAL converter. Not cheap, but also not a bad toy to have on hand, plus they can easily be found on eBay.

Yeah Pro Action Replay indeed released in Japan. It even has notches to fit American SNES.

    Some pics.

Well it might be scarce. I really don't know anything about the Japanese market for such devices.
