Default Fake Pokemon Games Sold on Ebay?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Game...p2047675.l2557

I know it's a completed listing, but this seems really fishy... 19 copies of each individual game? Full battery life on every one?

    Hmm...

These are the number one faked games on eBay. Yes they have full battery life because they are flashed and don't use batteries. To be specific they are hot wheels game boards with the pokemon game flashed onto newly and poorly applied chips. To be honest, I bought a set of the main 5 for 20 bucks and immediately realized they where fake when I got them. I bought them thinking about trading them cause a friend wanted to trade pokemon games for a few snes titles. anyhew. I noticed that the games where printed with NON METALLIC Ink. which threw my head spinning. I then opened said games and to no surprise saw Chinese writing on the chips with the word rom on one. I looked up the PCB number [which was the same on all 5 different games] and the number matched for hot wheels. Also when you first boot up the never before played game (no Scratches at all) It will say. "This Game Can Be Played" that is a guaranteed fake. I instantly contacted them saying I wanted to return the games and told them that they had falsely advertised them as authentic when they where in fact not. I did get all of my money back and in reporting him he said Keep Em. I will never buy from anyone outside the country when buying games. Only parts and components.

Sorry If you bought them. But the bright side is no battery so if you wanted to keep them and play, you would never loose your saves.

Also know what your buying, that was the first, only and last time I buy something that someone else was looking for. If your not familiar with the item, buy it in person and study it before meeting the seller.

Whew, I wasn't thinking about buying them, I just wanted to let people know about this. That's a scary thought though... Thanks for the info by the way.

The best way to make sure you don't get a pirated game is to make sure you buy one complete in box. Nobody pirates cardboard boxes.

One of my local used game stores sells CIB repros for some Pokemon games, Mario 64 DS, and a few others.

I think someone might have sold them to the store under false pretense (also a bunch of GBA SP lookalikes that can't actually play GBA games), and they sit around unsold.

Another clue is language. Any sensible person should realize GBA games Nintendo sells in China are not English. I mean, really.

If only that were true. I've come across a few pirated GBA boxes, both US and Japanese.

I have, ironically, a pirate Super Famicom CIB Justice League Task Force.
Box is Japanese, cart is JP/PAL but boots on my NTSC SNES, the instruction book is SFC sized but I'm assuming the content is copied directly from the US manual (including purple controller buttons and Acclaim warranty info).

Well, that would be normal, if you removed the tabs... But yeah, I have seen some reprinted manuals surfacing as well.

If its JP, then it's not PAL.

Even when GBA was still a current system, it seemed like 90% of the games being sold on Ebay were bootlegs. Made it impossible to find a game I wanted (wasn't gonna buy a fake). Fortunately it got reissued and I could buy it at Best Buy, but anyway, yeah, I wouldn't buy GBA games on Ebay even if I could get them for a single cent.

My birthday is coming up soon and I may be getting some stuff off ebay with any birthday money I get. I was wondering what the best way to identify fake games was? Does Super Nintendo get a lot of fakes on ebay?

    Thank you!

Some people get fake Super Nintendo games and not even know it. A seller on Nintendoage sold me a fake Donkey Kong Country 3. It works fine but you can tell on the label it says "Donkey Kong Country 3 - Dixie Kong's Duble Trouble" haha they misspelled Double. The PCB was also half the size of a normal SNES game and had a battery clip with no battery installed.

Is anyone else weirdly fascinated by fake Pokemon games? Like, I would never pay full price for them. But I might get a few just to play around with.

Tons of GBC multicarts that are out there, intriguing for their Engrish.
