Default Accessories you bought and wish you hadn't/didn't buy and...

    ...wish you did.

I bought a SNES Mouse, and I regret it. MARIO PAINT was fun for only a little bit, and other than that, I don't remember much being available for it. Actually, I can't think of any other titles, though maybe SimCity2000 did?

I didn't buy a SNES SuperScope...and not sure if I should have bought it or not. The thing looked super cool, but was anything really out there to make you buy it? I saw a Metal Combat (?) game today....but reviews of that and Super Scope Six didn't look too interesting. Maybe I could have used it for T2: Arcade Game, but I never bought that. ?.

I didn't buy a NES R.O.B. nor a Power Pad. I imagine if I used the Pad, I would break it, and the R.O.B. seems like a peripheral that isn't worth having around taking up space, even though I have the games for it (I think).

I didn't buy a Game Boy Camera or Printer, nor a Sega Menacer (would pick this up if I saw it).

I don't own a Dreamcast but I'm considering buying up new official controllers on clearance for $5 each. I still can't believe that Sears clearanced out Sony Dual Shock controllers at $2 a piece and I missed it.

I also never picked up the NES cleaning kits at T'R'U when they were $0.17 each

I know of at least one other game that works with the SNES Mouse:

    Civilization

That King Arthur SNES lemmings style game used the SNES mouse too, but I have to attest that the mouse itself was pretty bad. I found it unresponsive, sluggish and the buttons gave out pretty quick.

    Let's see:

Two PSX steering wheels (one Pelican, one Ascii), they suck and aren't nearly as good for playing a racing game as the dual shock.

Game Boy Camera & Printer: no regrets here, got them both for my birthday and had a ball with both. (I still remember making little 30-frame horror movies on them....ahhh memories).

Sega Menacer: this was more fun to take outside and pretend it was a real gun than to actually play the included games after a while (although, in it's defense, the "keep the roaches away from the cheese game" (forget what it was really called) and the Toejam & Earl tomato-shooting game was fun).

DC arcade stick (Agetec): don't regret this one one bit, great responsive stick I got my money's worth on.

Namco Jogcon: nowhere near as good as a dual shock, unless you take the time to perfect it (which is pointless to me, having already pretty much mastered the dual shock for racing games)

I bought some crazy Quickshot controller for my NES. Instead of a D-pad it has a large hemisphere that you shove in the desired direction. Basically, it sux.

The obvious MegaBomberman. But MK3 (not UMK3 for some reason) supports the multitap in the Endurance Mode or whatever it's called. You press some buttons at the title/options screen and it takes you to screen where you choose up to 8 characters. Iit's 2 vs 2 and plays like the endurance rounds in the actual game, where once a character dies another jumps in, except it does this for all eight characters on each team (if they all die that quick). This way when one player dies his teammate will jump in afterwards and fight till he dies and so on.

Genesis Lost Vikings was multiplayer? (I don't think any other ports had that feature.)

    Manimal--

Actually the best reason to get the SNES mouse is to play Arkanoid. That's why I got it, and while not as good as a paddle controller would have been (like the 8-bit NES version), it's still much better than trying to use the pad. I haven't played it in a while but if I remember correctly, it works fairly well.

Go out and buy Arkanoid and justify yourself!

I looked for a Super 8 for over 2 years and finally found one.

I hate the thing because it takes a crowbar to get NES games in & out of it. I dread when I want to play it because I know I'm going to have to unplug everything before I can get a game out of it.

I'm talking put the device on the floor, put both feet on it to hold it down & pull the cartridge out with my hands.

I want to just file the hell out of it, but then I'll kill any hope of ever reselling it.
We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.
