Default New Call Of Duty Ghosts, what are your thoughts about the game so far?

I have not played single player yet, but I do like the change of pace the online play brings. Its got larger maps and a lot more cover which you need to use. If your a run and gun like myself on most fps..good luck. Got my butt handed to me the first two games and then slowed it down and used the buildings and cover, and back to good scores again. So what do you all think so far?

Geez, I came back here today to see peoples thoughts and if I should pick this up for the 360 but it seems no one here likes Call of Duty, lol. I've never really have any problem with them, they're always competent fun with friends, but it would seem that Ghosts got hacked pretty bad already on the current gen. My PS4 version just came in and since I have no console to play it on yet, I was going to foolishly grab another as I am leery I will actually get my new gen hardware on release day and be able to smoothly go online...and I really want to play. A six pack and some CoD is an exciting winter night for me as an adult, lol.

It's Call of Duty. You know what to expect. Run around shooting people, get shot in the back because 12 out of the 16 players in the game are camping.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

You should also know what to expect from this forum as far as opinions on modern shooters go. It's the generic shooty shooty bang bang crap we've seen for seven years and this is a classic gaming forum.

Am I the only person left that buys these games for the campaigns? I have pretty much outgrown the need to hear 10 year olds cursing and screaming at how bad all the other "NOOBS" are in their party online. I got sick of that around COD: MW3 and haven't been back online since. Not really for ANY games. Screw online, I want to just play the game - I'm guessing that's the crotchety old man in me...

Nope. Campaign only for me for that exact set of reasons. I can hold my own online say middle of the pack but all the abusive playing, camping and huge immature mouths have me off it for good in that genre. I just want a fun game with some good overall mechanics and story(if needed) and I'm good. Ghosts appears to have a solid story and a 8-10hr campaign, which I won't pay 60 for, but if I find it for 40 or less I could see snapping it up on WiiU.

the game is very good and an improvement on the games predecessors in a few ways.

The level designs are AMAZING, and HUGE, and yes while some maps will breed camping, that is to be expected with any FPS, battlefield has campers, COD will always have campers, the levels are huge an improvement on the previous games which while the maps were nice, they pale in comparison to the overall size of most of the maps in this iteration. The game is gorgeous with the a ton of customization typical of the series. The story mode I haven't played yet, but it has been getting mixed reviews. I am optimistic it will be good but I will leave judgement for that after I play.
The Game modes are another feature in this game, the multiplayer is as usual great, the alien "extinction" mode is very nice as well, with some of the toughest AI I have seen in a while. The Squads and Clan modes are a nice upgrade from the clan mode in MW3, just adding a little extra depth.
To be this good takes AGES

To be this great takes SEGA!!

Agreed and for the exact same reasons.

Ok, so I picked Ghosts up for the 360 and for the PS4.

I never do the campaign so I can't comment on that but I can comment on the MP and feel is a solid entry into the series. I'll Start off by saying that you die fast, real fast, which was something irritating about Blops2 and carried over to the extreme here. This does speed up the pace of the game but also where I give it the first knock, a lot of the maps are just too big to where you end up running around for a minute only to get shot in the back or fall victim to someone crouched behind a wall. Maybe the new gen will rectify this by having stock nine vs. nine, one can hope. Other than that, they are beautiful to look at and fun to navigate as I was always less of a fan of the typical three lane system or more adept to varying routes and terrain.

The guns are a lot of fun with good variety and seem pretty balanced depending on the class chosen, I love the K7, Vector, SC-2010 and the Bulldog. People are complaining about the MSBS but I rarely ever see one used. Kill streaks are pretty boring aside from the Maniac which totally rocks, Support is what I tend to use as I'm more of a team player...I can get the high kill streaks but find them harder to use (which is good, don't get me wrong !) but less useful (which is bad). Specialist on the other hand turns you into a running death machine.

The perk system is really great too with so many options though there are still a few "must haves" for you not to be at a disadvantage. Focus for when you are getting shot, Amplify to hear who's around you (and man can you hear) and Quickdraw to win gunfights...Love the Gambler perk for one point, cool idea !

Field Orders for killing the leader of the other team and performing a simple task such as "tea bagging" a downed opponent or "shooting someone from behind," which happens naturally every minute or two anyway, to get a free care package is an awesome addition. You can even get a Nuke ! (K.E.M. Strike)

The connection feels good, characters die when you shoot them though the occasional Wanted Pro (bullets bending around corners) still pops up here and there. Overall though I am having a lot of fun and find it better than MW3 and Blops 2 besides taking away Hardpoint which was a personal fave.

**After about 3 hours of playing I ended up in a hacked lobby that I had no idea I was in. Game ran normal and kills were worth the same as they usually are except after the match I was max prestige and now every kill I get, I earn 3 squad points and this seems to happen infinitely. Great job Infinity Ward and hackers, you suck. I love the progression system of this game and mine has been ruined on the first day. I tried clearing the cache, deleting and re-installing and nothing works. Thanks.

I'm all about the campaigns for these types of games.

The on-line this is just annoying. you'd think by now they'd have ways of countering the 'camp near the spawn point' nonsense that pervades FPS titles. I mean, how about a 5-second period in which the person who re-spawns is can't be attacked and can't attack anyone? At least you'd be able to look around and see who's waiting for you (or take cover somewhere). Hell, even Joust (and most top-down shooters) have a similar feature.
