Default Worthwhile side scrolling beat'em ups for the Neo Geo?

Everyone knows the Neo Geo was a great system for fighting games, shumps, and puzzle games. And also Metal Slug.

But what about Final Fight/Double Dragon style beat'em ups? It seems like the platform would be tailor made for high quality beat'em ups but I don't have any memory of any for the arcade systems.

Are there any? Better question, are there any memorable ones worth playing?

Yo, check it out, try playing Sengoku 3. It's what's up.

Yeah. It's definitely the best I've played on the Neo-Geo, though the recycling of the same enemies over and over again makes the game more monotonous than it needed to be. If Sengoku had more polish, it would have been a really sweet beat 'em up.

For some reason I really enjoyed 8 man. I know a lot of people may disagree , but it gets my vote.

Oh and can't forget mutation nation.

That's literally all that's worth mentioning. Except Mutation Nation, while not the most quality beat 'em up, it can be fun.

I would suggest ignoring Burning Fight, since it doesn't hold up to the younger Final Fight.

Eightman actually always struck me as similar to Strider, not really the right elements to consider a beat 'em up, but rather an action game with melee combat.

For good 2D beat 'em ups, you're better off going with the 2 major 16-bit consoles(honestly can't think of a good one on the Turbo, aside from Vigilante), and maybe early 32-bit.

Well, that or create a M.A.M.E. cabinet. If arcade cabinets could be looked at in a similar vein to consoles, none would beat arcades at non-adventure games.

Sengoku 3 and Mutation Nation are probably the best ones. Though it's not technically a beat 'em up, Ninja Combat shares a lot of elements with beat 'em ups and is a very fun game. It's actually the first Neo Geo game I played back then, and I still enjoy it, though it shows its age.

Crossed Swords is essentially a BEU, it's just played from behind the character's back. The Super Spy is a similar concept.

There's a REALLY TERRIBLE beat 'em up based on the anime Legend of Success Joe. It's total pile of shit.
