Default Atari 2600 boxed games value..

    Atari 2600 boxed games value..

I'm not sure on where I could find this info..
A friend of mine recently sold some boxed Atari 2600 games for a good amount of money..
They were the boxes that open up like a book...
Are these boxed versions more valuable then regular top opening boxes..?

Is there a list of book opening boxed Atari games?

    Thanks..

I think the ones that open like a book were only PAL. I could be wrong though. I would say there more rare, considering I don't see them that much.
Somebody make me a "CGE 2k7 Attendee banner" so I don't have to use this lame text

I have 6 of the Gatefold boxes. They are not just PAL, as I have US copies Most of the Gatefold boxes are early, early releases. I think I have 3 Sears gatefolds and 3 Atari gatefolds. What I like about them is they are much sturdier because the whole box is laminated. It makes them very shiny and very strong and resistant to certain kinds of damage.

Well, since the boxes are laminated with Mylar, they will be resistant(note: Resistant not the same as Bullet Proof) to liquid damage. Also, it helps to strengthen them and reduce wear on the edges and corners.

The only Atari games that were released in gatefold boxes are the numbered games:
    02 air-sea battle
    61 basic math
    51 blackjack
    01 combat
    11 indy 500
    03 star ship
    12 street racer
    41 surround
    21 video olympics

I don't know which Sears games were released in gatefold boxes. All of them?

I just bought a CIB gatefold Combat for $3. I would guess that the other games would go up proportionally from there.

Laminated? I have a Blackjack gatefold that isn't laminated; it's the same cardboard & same matte finish of the later Atari boxes. Are there a 2 subsets of the gatefold boxes, laminated/matte finish?

Huh, maybe there were different types of Gatefolds. All the ones I own and have ever seen are the laminated ones.

I could imagine that in an effort to reduce costs, the lamination would be dropped from box production. This would be a good first step in cost reduction. That is strange though that they would even do this, since there aren't many Gatefold boxes to begin with, as Atari quickly switched to the standard style boxes.

Oh and to start a short list of the Sears Gatefolds, I have:
    -Pong Sports
    -Speedway II
    -Target Fun

These 3 coincide with keir's list, so the Sears Gatefolds may be the same as Atari.
