Not entirely sure why this rated any press time, but it's interesting to speculate on.

The upcoming game that's due right around now as I recall won't be on next generation game consoles. So does this signal a shift to a different developer for 2015 since it seems a peculiar move to make in the face of such a transition? Or is Activision perhaps even letting the NASCAR license, which must be closing in on the 5 year mark at this point, perhaps expire after this year's entry?

Will be too bad if that's the case. They have problems and they're far from perfect, but they're the best NASCAR games on consoles since Dirt to Daytona a decade ago.
