    Default Game Boy Advance Everdrive

I noticed this recently appeared. Curious if anyone has any impressions since the first run seems to have slipped under the radar for the most part.

As far as I'm aware, this is the first reprogrammable multicart for the GB/GBC. Any GBA multicart merely emulates these two libraries and can't be used on a Super Game Boy. I'm definitely interested if it lives up to the quality of some of the other Everdrive products.

    Here's a video on YouTube.

There was a multicart before this, it was pretty generic but works fine.

The big use of that though was for people doing LSDJ.

I had one of those smart cards but it crapped out on me after only a year of use. I think the battery died. It also sucked because you could only back up one save to the battery at one time. Also some Game Boy Color roms refused to boot on the Game Boy Player but worked fine on a Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance. I expect the Everdrive to be a huge improvement.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.

I'm waiting to see what SAG's deluxe edition will look like, and either get that or just the board. I'm in no rush.

I agree on pretty much all your points there, and I doubt it'll be able to hold a candle to this new Everdrive, but it does give me a cheap way to play lots of GB/C titles easily. Also, I think the save battery is in a clip so it should be easy to replace if you open the cart up.

Yeah and it does have the ability to trick the system into thinking it's an original game by only putting one game on each "side" of the card's 32/32 partition. You get the Super Game Boy border for any game that way. I'm not sure if the Everdrive can do that or not.

Wonder if Space Invaders loads the SuperNes game on a Super Game Boy?

With Super Game Boy functionality working just fine, I don't see why it wouldn't. But unique situations like this are what puts homebrew hardware most to the test and where issues are most likely to present themselves.

I don't have an ED but if ED allows SGB games to boot on an SGB in SGB mode, then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Yes, not surprising. I have an EZ Flash IV, which was fairly inexpensive, but if he can put something together that uses his menu system, I will buy. I actually hate the EZ Flash's GUI, even though it's "advanced."

Wow that's enough of an interesting item it could make me actually want to buy it if it's living up to the everdrive name. Long ago I had the old bUNG(remember them) LPT port transfer 64M card that would do the black GBC, SGB and GB stuff like a charm, not a failure...slow as hell to transfer though. While this would be totally useless on my micro and retron5, this could be pretty badass on my GB player or if I caved and grabbed an old GBC for fun. I can't ever seen investing in GB again, it gets nuts with all that stuff around and attention divided, but throw like 6 games on there at most it would be party time.

What's the price on this anyway and reliability outside of 1 video.

Apparently the ancient Flash Advance Linker could be persuaded to boot into GB/GBC mode if you had the "GB Bridge" accessory, but good luck finding any of that stuff.
    http://www.gameboy-advance.net/flash_card/gb_bridge.htm

I can also recall reading at one point that the functionality of the GB Bridge could be duplicated just by blocking one of the cartridge pins with a piece of paper. To be clear, trying this with a more advanced device like the EZ Flash IV is probably a bad idea.

He has a few videos going into this year, the latest last I looked proved that saving was working (natural cart saves, not load/save states.) I can't wait to see this drop as it'll be far more better quality than that crap ez-flash from overseas that's just a slow mess that needs some patching.
