Default Trouble identifying a Diode in Sega Power base converter

This isn't my photo but a nice clear one:

In trying to replace the caps on my power base converter (it would constantly reset or not run games at all) I may have damaged it further. I tried checking the zener diode on the left in the above image (between the cap and resistor to the left of the IC) and I'm getting .29v both ways, which suggests it's blown.

The problem is that mine doesn't have any code printed on it, or any bands, and I'm struggling to find out its rating so I can replace it. Does anyone know off hand or have a working PBC they can check it in? I won't admit to knowing what I'm doing, exactly, but I'm learning

    Thanks in advance.

What the hell is with the capacitors on the cartridge slot?

I pulled up a schematic for this thing and it lacks any more detail than a resistor and a switch. I don't recall what the name of it is but it's a fairly common diode. I once bought a 50 pack of them at Radio Shack many moons ago.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

Yeah my first instinct was to "clean up" those two caps on the cart slot since they just plain looked wrong. Turns out, they're supposed to be like that

Do you have a link to the schematic?

You'll have to remove one leg of that diode to test it; in-circuit it will read as shown with that resistor in parallel. That looks like a conventional 1n4148, 1n914, or similar diode. I really doubt that it's bad.

I would ensure cleanliness of all the various connectors before considering PCB level troubleshooting. The PBC adds a whole stack of male to female card edges and edge connectors:

Genesis cart slot <-< PBC to Genesis cart riser >-> PBC upper PCB <-< SMS cartridge

If it is bad hardware I'd suspect the Genesis before the PBC.

I thought I had checked it off the PCB but apparently I was wrong. It's reading two different numbers on two multimeters, but it's in the .53-.57v range and still good.

The problem isn't the connectors or the Genesis. The first thing done was a cleaning of the connectors and that made little difference. I'm worried that I damaged the IC though when I put some of the caps in backwards. I get nothing but a blank screen.
