    Default SNES JP imports recommendations

Hi. I recently completed my wish list of PAL SNES games, getting every game that i believe is worth playing today. I never played this system in its day (got interested in it around 2008), but it has become my favorite console of all times. Living in Europe in a country devoid of any retro scene (or console scene for that matter) has not been easy for my hobby, it took an unfathomable amount of time and effort. Years. But i made it.

I acquired a Super Famicom (plus the required accesories, like a stepdown converter). So now i am interested in collecting JP imports, and recommendations are more then welcome. I am not familiar with this library, except for Seiken Densetsu 3 (which is on its way). Whether they're english-friendly or not is not important. Reproduction carts are a valid solution for me, and i have played text heavy JP games with printed translation guides before.

I'm not interested in collecting US exclusive imports, because i am more than familiar with them.. Maybe wen i finish my JP collection of games worth playing today.

As for why i haven't tried alternate routes like modding, buying adaptors, a SD2SNES etc. It's a hassle not worth doing because of the city & country i live in. It was easier outright buying a converter and a super famicom.

Steve's list is a good start, but I can't believe he hasn't got Umihara Kawase listed!

It comes to taste, but one most would agree upon, if you like shooters, Macross and Spriggan Powered are solid and anything Konami shoved out on the Super Famicom is a must, even the spinoff of one, a platformer Twinbee Rainbow Bell Adventure is good stuff. If you like brawlers, there's a heap from obscure, the anime stuff like Sailor Moon (and SM R) too. Fighting games have a good many more releases and Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 2 is a quality title. Also some stuff we got a game from, there were more in Japan too like the Goemon (Mystical Ninja) titles that are worth it.

My favorite SFC games are Clock Tower (point and click survival horror), Super Famicom Detective Club (graphical text adventure), Radical Dreamers (graphical text adventure), and Wonder Project-J (point and click life sim).

All of which require translations or a heavy understanding of Japanese.

I can back up Tanookie on Macross. It is actually the only SFC game that I own, but it really did blow me away. My brother, who is not at all familiar with Macross/Robotech, loved the game as well when he came over and tried it. I did something that I rarely do in gaming with Macross, and that's continue to play it even after I'd already finished it. Wish I had more suggestions for ya.

And I did post my review of the Macross game on my blog last month, which is linked below for anyone interested. As well as a Normal difficulty no-death run on the youtubez.
