    Default June 2014 Finds

I figured someone else would have gotten this party started but oh well.

Took a trip up to the flea market for the first time in a while. I hit all of the usual spots in there for games, a couple of guys consider me a regular and almost always have something for me to look at. My first stop I ended up trading the guy a few of my doubles for a couple of 3DS games (Mario Tennis Open, Starfox 64 3D) and some Xbox 360 titles (Dreamcast Collection, Konami Classics V1, and Namco Museum Virtual Arcade).

The second place I hit up was a guy who runs a booth there and owns a mom 'n pop shop closer to my house. He had a B2G1F going on and I ended up with the following SNES games: GP-1 Part II, Vegas Stakes, and Scooby-Doo Mystery all complete.

I hit up a couple of Gamestops on the way back to the house but walked out empty handed at both locations.

My first find in a looong time. But then, I haven't actually looked in a long time, either. So it just goes to show that you have to try to have a chance. These were $2.99 each at a Unique. I was shocked to find them on a shelf with other games (PS2 sports, mostly). They normally put stuff like this in the glass case right along with all cartridge games. At first I was afraid they wouldn't sell them to me because they weren't priced, but they were just rung up like a PS2 game (DVD I guess). Pearl has no manual, but the rest do. Haven't tried Platinum's CN code yet.

Saw a Craigslist add for a working Turbografx 16 and 7 games $160. The picture showed a TG16 with no back cover and the games were in cases but stacked so all you could see was Vigilante, but I caught a corner of what appeared to be a Keith Courage and a gun flash that looked like Turrican. Anyhow got pretty lucky that everything was in great shape, the back cover was there, and some games were complete with cardboard boxes. Very good games too, only repeat for me is Keith Courage. Went from pretty slim pickings to a respectable selection of TG16 games with this one.

turrican, vigilante, splatterhouse, keith courage, blood wolf, sidearms, alien crush

I haven't found anything on Craigslist for quite some time and was even complaining recently how it was impossible to find anything good on there.

At a flea market in Greenwood, Louisiana I picked up a baggie with a top loader NES for $25. It didn't have the dogbone controller in it, but then I've already got one of those someplace in storage. Haven't tried it out yet, I really need to clean the thing off first. I also don't have any games to test it with since I'm on vacation.

Some great stuff that I picked recently:

    - Ys: Memories of Celceta Silver Anniversary Edition ($49.99)
    - Ys I & II Chronicles Premium Edition ($19.99)
    - Persona 2: Innocent Sin ($19.99)
    - NBA 2K2 ($3)
    - NCAA College Basketball 2K3 ($3)

The Ys games and Persona 2 were picked up at Gamestop as they are currently doing some clearing out of the remaining PSP games. The sport games were bought at the flea market where a seller was having a big blowout sale; I'm glad I grabbed the games before the area became extra toasty

Here are my purchases from February to June:

    Sonic The Hedgehog Nendoroid (New)

Sonic Adventure 2 Birthday Pack (Used, Complete)

I picked these up back in February, so I don't remember exactly what I paid for them. I do know that it was a bit more than the going rates online, but I wanted to support my local indie shops.

Mario & Luigi Dream Team 3DS XL System (Used) - $135

I had recently did a little "spring cleaning" of my game collection and had money to burn. I found this sitting in a local pawn shop, so I asked to look at it. It had everything included, except the SD card. The AC adapter was still sealed as well. Even better, after I got it home and set up my NNID, I discovered that I could still download the Mario & Luigi game for free from the eshop! Later, I picked up a 16 GB SD card on sale for $9.99.

Of course, I can't have a 3DS without some games for it as well!

Bravely Default (Used, Complete) - $34.99

    Kingdom Hearts 3D (Used, Complete) - $19.99

Sonic Lost World (New) - $19.99

Tales of the Abyss (New) - $19.99

    Pokemon Y (New) - $19.99

    Okamiden (New) - $22.49

Radiant Historia (Used, Complete) - $26.99

Oh, and two more things that I forgot to take pictures of:

Gold Wii Classic Controller Pro (Used) - $13.49

Rayman DS (Used, Complete) - $2.65

If anyone's looking for some shrinkwrapped PS2 and GameCube PAL and Japanese Chicken Little and Narnia games, with a little POTC thrown in, the Redondo Beach Goodwill has you covered.

Their international flavor does not limit itself to modern gaming either...

Japanese and pal for both systems? WTF?

I found a Coleco tabletop Frogger at Savers for $5. No battery door, compartment is corroded. Turning it on shows a glitchy screen, need to fix power connection.

Anyone got a spare battery cover?

If it can't be fixed than it can be served as a display fixture for your game collection.

We were out of town this past weekend but I didn't find anything. I did contact a person on another forum I frequent who lived in the town we were visiting and I bought his barely used PS Vita 3G from him for $140 as an early birthday present to myself. It's the older model that has the OLED screen instead of the newer Vita Slim style that's packed in with Borderlands. Hoping I can scare something up tomorrow but I'll have a toddler in tow so that'll slow my searching down considerably.

Hit several flea markets and sales today, found nothing. I was told that the "Game Hunters", those dickslappers, had wiped out most everything they found weeks ago. So that was a waste of time. I did go a little out of my way and go to a newly opened GameXchange store and picked up Wabbit! (Atari 2600), Laser Gates (Atari 2600), and The Heist (Colecovision) all loose for $1.95, buy 2 get 1 free. That town already has a small overpriced game store, and with a GameStop and a GameXchange I can see that little one dying out. Although they've expanded into tabletop/card battle style gaming, that might keep them going. At least I'll know where I can get boxed NES RPGs for a small fortune at in the immediate future.

I didn't get to do much wandering around today. I did stop by the Gamestop next to my bank and found of fishing games for the Wii for about $8 and some change. They were Reel Fishing: Angler's Dream and Fishing Master. They also had some sort of PlayStation appreciation day going on and I got a couple of PS4 lanyards. I was considering heading up to the flea market tomorrow but I think those plans got nixed.
