    Default July 2014 Finds

I picked up some more games from the Thrift Shop I bought the sealed games from last week. Not as good of finds but worth a pickup. MGS Sealed $20, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Sealed $10, Strider 2 CIB $30.

Went to a flea market today, Gyromite w/famicom converter $5. Nights Into Dreams case is empty no disk, but in extremely good shape and for some reason had an extra instruction booklet in it, $3.

Does the NiGHTs have the back insert? The longbox version is less common than the 3D Pad bundle.

A few more finds before I save up some cash to survive SGC:

Mario and Luigi Dream Team CiB - $18 (eBay)

SEGA Master System Lot, all carts only - $14

    SMS Lot Including:

    R-Type
    Kenseiden
    Shinobi
    Double Dragon
    Space Harrier
    Alien Syndrome
    Altered Beast
    After Burner

I'm new to SMS collecting and this begins my collection. From what I can tell nothing's too rare here but R-Type is a little more valuable than the rest.

So, I moved this past weekend and a long time friend of mine gave me this as a house warming gift! He had won this through a contest on the Playstation retail loyalty site a couple years ago.

    and lit up:

... I don't even know where to start.

So today I went to do my usual rounds, looking for merchandise for the store. I picked up Marvel Ultimate Alliance for PC for $3. I also found a bunch of Japanese DVDs at one my usual haunts - US movies and some TV show boxsets, but they were sample (Not For Resale) versions, like that Japanese Street Fighter DVD I grabbed a while back. But right there mixed with everything else was a Final Fantasy VII DVD. Not Advent Children. Something else.

Okay, you see that disc on the right? That's the DVD. It cost me two bucks.

It apparently sold for $1500 two years ago on eBay. Yes, $1500. DOLLARS.

    http://thelifestream.net/review-the-toshiba-ffvii-dvd/

Apparently the disc is ridiculously rare and expensive because it was only sold bundled with a Japanese PC system. I am -beyond- flabbergasted at finding this. I thought it would be something stupidly common, but not this! Just... holy crap!

Oh, and for those that care, I didn't just buy that FF7 DVD.

Simon Says two dollars to hear Dennis Rodman dubbed in Japanese is worth it.

Picked this up at Goodwill for $19.99. The demo disc is still sealed.

I'm guessing you're planning on selling it. Say, weren't you planning on moving to a relative's house in Tennessee at one point, and you were raising money to relocate? I drifted away from here for a bit due to finding jack sh-t in thrifts anymore, I didn't read about any follow-up. Will $1500 get you there?

Pretty epic find, it's cool that the other guy ripped the videos out to share so at least the content isn't forever lost.

I'm probably keeping it. Sealed. Stored. Maybe one day I'll try selling it.

I really don't think I can sell it for a grand and a half, let alone half that, anyway. And yes I was planning on moving to Tennessee a while back but that looks more and more unlikely these days.

The most random of random finds today, in a K-Mart that is closing we found shoved into a corner a locking glass cabinet that says "Sega" on it. We're assuming it was a Sega display case back in the day and was put off in the back somewhere and now that the store is closing it was dragged out. I had no interest but my friend I was shopping with grabbed it up and took it home since they were beginning to sell fixtures if you talked to the manager.

Had a good, fun weekend with VGS and a Flea Market. Nothing spectacular but pretty solid overall.

Before VGS I stopped at a Goodwill where they actually had 2 NES games for cheap which I didn't pick up and a PSP in the glass case. I had this woman in front of me who was looking at Jewlery in bags so I had to wait forever. But I could see it looked like in new condition and the pricetag on the back said $20. So while not knowing anything about PSP but wanting one I was pumped. When I got it in my hands it felt cheap and after looking at it and trying to figure out where the UMD would go I realized there was no Sony branding anywhere. Here it was some super cheesy knockoff. Luckily at the show I ended up getting a 3000 (which nether me nor the vendor new what model it was at the time) with 10 games and everything in great shape for $30.

Everything in the Picture - $72 Total from the flea market.

    GBA SP + Charger $5
    Genesis + 32x stuff - $15
SNES Stuff - $25 notable games Earthworm Jim 2 ans Super Street Fighter II
Power Glove + Case - $20 Ok condition, missing instructions and 1 tray. Had never seen one before.
    Rest - $7

Does the NiGHTs have the back insert? The longbox version is less common than the 3D Pad bundle.
Yes it has the back and is the longbox version. The second manual probably came from a boxed with controller version as I see they used the same manual and just got put in the case at some point.

That's very cool, I learned something new today. That Simon Sez DVD is probably not dubbed/subbed at all. It's a neat early Japanese DVD... if you ever want to sell it, let me know.

    Nice Pickups:

I haven't been around much I'm just so busy with three kids and racing.

since the last time I posted a pick up I've had some really good/big pick ups ...
again I just don't have time to post them up..

I've been hitting more garage sales but mainly dealing inbetween three other game pickers..who I meet up with or they deliver.

yesterday I had a pretty big/.good SNES game delivery..

Saturday I hit a flea market and basically RAN through it...I've been doing a lot of slot car racing with my kids so I was focused on finding slot cars/sets.

I'm happy to find a Pac Man Garbage Can for $5.00

... it is. It says it has English and Japanese audio, both mono and 5.1 Surround. And Japanese subs. What, did you think I would've picked this up if it wasn't dubbed?

It's Half Price Books coupon week, and I hit 4 out of the 5 HPBs in the Columbus metro area. Ended up with a handful of bluray movies/concerts, and a 120GB Slim PS3 for 90 bucks. Hello bedroom bluray player.

    Pre-SGC 2014 Buys:

New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS) - $17.50 - CiB, unused club nintendo code

    Bust-A-Move Universe (3DS) - $5.50 - Cart only

    3DS OEM AC Adapter - $4

    SGC 2014 Dealer Room Haul:

Two things astounded me about what I ended up getting from SGC:

    1. It all worked perfectly.

    2. Well...I'll talk about that a little bit lower in the post.

(Saving the best for last, so here's the rest - )

    (All SNES and GB loose)

    Superman (GB) - $2

    Mickey's Dangerous Chase (GB) - $2

    Gameboy Game Genie - $3

    SNES Game Genie - $5

    Paperboy 2 (SNES) - $2.50

    F-Zero (SNES) - $5

    Cybernator (SNES) - $8

    Pocohontas (GEN) Loose - $3

Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends (GEN) Loose - $3

Altered Beast (GEN) Loose - $5

(forgot to take a picture of these next two, but both are in great condition)

Blades of Vengeance (GEN) Loose - $5

    B.O.B. (GEN) Loose - $2

Sonic and Knuckles (CiB!) - $7

Ms. Pac Man (CiB) - $2.50

While that's all great, it's NOTHING compared to this, though:

PERFECTLY FUNCTIONAL SEGA FREAKIN' NOMAD - $22

I picked this up off a dealer table and asked what the guy wanted for it expecting an exorbitant price, especially considering a booth on the other side of the dealer's room was trying to move one for $100.

He asked for $25. Claimed it worked and was played the day before. Didn't give a fuck and half expected it to be broken, even parts nomads go for more than that.

Past a brief moment of speechlessness, I immediately agreed to it. He stated he couldn't break any bills, so get as close as possible, which for me was $22. He took it.

Tested it out with a Gen2 AC adapter on some other Seller's system with the altered beast cart I picked up that day...and it worked like a charm.

No battery pak, so need to track one of those down eventually. There was also a name in red paint on the bottom of it, which was entirely cleared off with around 30 Q-Tips, Rubbing Alcohol and a half hour of determined-yet-careful scrubbing.

I never go to dealer rooms expecting to find a steal. Good deals on shit that's hard to sell like that Thomas the Tank Engine game, sure, especially on sundays, but nothing like this.

For anyone else who went to SGC, here's hoping you had some kickass finds and good times as well
