Question How Many Floppy Disks Do You Have?

How many floppy disks do you have?
    3 1/2 inch?
    5 1/4 inch?
    8 inch?

And what are the highlights of your collection of floppies? Which single software do you own that has the most floppies for installing it? (For example, all those floppies for installing Windows 95.)

My dad has a few old games he might hand off to me at some point, so counting those I think I have like 9 or 10 5 1/4" floppies.

I actually have like 50 of the other kind, and not all of them are games, but most of them are, and one of them stopped working before I got it backed up (very fortunately that one had a CD-ROM re-release--it was Star Trek 25th Anniversary).

Not sure what I'd consider the highlight of my collection. I recently got Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday almost complete (only missing the tie-in novel that most copies included) and I love that, but I also have Powerhits: Battletech (which also came out on CD-ROM but I got the floppy version). The floppy game I have with the most disks is Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers... the old Interplay one, not the movie-based one obviously (how many floppy disks would it take to get to the center of *that* particular tootsie pop?) which has the same number of disks as the Star Trek game.

Every Floppy game I have I immediately back up, both by copying the disk and by copying the install directory. Never gonna lose a game again!

I have a few older pc games on either 3 1/2 or 5 1/4 inch floppies as well as a tray of C64 floppies. I used to have a couple of trays of Tandy Coco disk but foolishly sold them along with everything coco I had back in the late 90's. I've since reacquired a big tandy coco collection but not too many disks though unfortunately

I think Indiana Jones and Last Crusade for the PC has 7 or 8 5 1/4 floppies so that's the one with the most. Probably my favorite floppy based PC games is my CIB copy of Silpheed for DOS.

Right now I've probably got about 100 floppy disks. Recent pick ups include:

    PC
    Siege (Mindcraft)
    Covert Action (Microprose)
    X-Wing
    Mega Lo Mania
    Gato

    C64
    Demon Stalkers
    Strike Fleet
    Jaws (Box Office version)

Recently, I've begun to switch my collecting to C64 carts. However, if anyone has a copy of Power at Sea for the 64 with the manual and would like to sell it please let me know.

Maybe two or three dozen 3.5" disks, but I haven't looked at them in ages; about a third of them are personal ones that I keep around for the sake of nostalgia. I haven't a clue if any of them are remotely useful anymore.

    I think I have a box of aged 5.25" disks, too, but I don't even have a 5.25" drive.

I've got a 50 pack of blank new and sealed 3 1/2 inchers
I've got a 10 pack of blank new and sealed 5 1/4 inchers with 1 extra disk that has a game on it (supposedly)

aside from that I have a ton others with stuff on them to many to count really, my fave is the windows 95 upgrade edition on 3 inch floppies and MS-Dos 4.22 on 5 inchers

I recently picked up another floppy disk for my C64 & SX64.
I finally got a complete Mars Saga for the 64. Very stoked.

100 3.5? Don't really know, but when I bought a guy's collection years ago it included a couple cartridge copying systems (e.g. MGH) and a couple boxes of floppies. what I have left of that is probably 50 or so 3.5s, and I'm just guessing that with some of my old DOS games like King's Quest I've probably got another 50. I have fewer 5.25". Just what I have in old big box games. probably 20 or so. Once I have my game room built answering questions like this will be a lot easier. Maybe next year...

Would love to have some 8" for decoration, but the only time I ever came across those was in a roommate's comp sci lab in college, and they were obsolete then.

Between my Amiga 500, Amiga 1200, SNES and Sega Genesis backup disks, I have roughly 5,000 3 1/2 inch disks, no joke.

Ironically, the cartridge-based games have probably outlived the backup disks.
