Default Digital Cable - G4 Channel, All Video Games, Finally got it

Well, my cable company (AT&T) Screwed up, so I didn't have this channel for awhile. Got it today, and I'm actually pretty impressed! It doesn't look like the cheesy low budget channel I was expecting...

There's a GREAT Nolan Bushnell program on right now, learning TONS of stuff I never knew about. And the commercials are just as good as the shows! Lik 75% of the commercials are, of course, Videogame commercials!

Anyone else have this channel yet?

yep.. been watching it for a while. It's cool except you'll soon find out that the only thing wrong with it, is it needs new shows. They keep showing the same episodes over and over and over and over..

Believe me, GENESISNES, you wouldn't. A few of the programs are repeated often enough to really get on your nerves x_x. Generally, though, they ARE fairly high quality. I suspect that in a while they'll get some new shows. They really haven't been on air very long.

They don't just cover new stuff like I expected. They had the history of Pac-Man on and a while ago some guy was demoing Vectorman for the Genny. They even play Starcade reruns! It's great! Oh, and their little plugs of their own shows or their channel are all classic arcade game related.

There are just enough things, that I won't watch it ALL day or anything. But unique things like the cinematheque that was on last night. 30 minutes of game intro's and cutscenes. Most of those games I won't ever play, so it was nice to see how they played and it even pushed me towards FINALLY picking up Crazy Taxi soon.

I've had G4 since it came on, and I have to say, I watch it all the time. They do have a problem with rerunning the same over and over and over again. I have seen the same dorky kid win on Starcade like 9 times. The news and review shows are just fine, although the reporters on the news show, while expierienced game journalists, are terrible on screen. They recently brought in a new guy who's better and the chick is just eye candy. The G4.com live show is pretty interesting, they have good interviews and knowledgable hosts. I think their biggest problem is they repeat Starcade, Portal(the online gaming show) and Cinematech almost 24hours a day. They need to switch it up a little more. On the plus side, out of the 13 shows, 8 or nine are actually worth watching if they made them more often. I am moving to another town in November where they don;t have it, I am going to cry when I go. <sniff> or maybe I'll start now...<wimper>
