Question Are There Any Places Near You Which Still Rent Video Games?

I don't mean automated stalls like Redbox or services like GameFly - I mean are there any brick-and-mortar businesses (probably only local ones at this point) which still rent video games near where you live? What about places further away? Bonus points if they rent retro video games. Extra bonus points if they rent game consoles.

I can't imagine anyone doing it anymore.

We have a Family Video around here that opened in 2012. Seems to be doing fine.

Nothing by me, now days you download demos and that's how you decide if you want to buy it. I do miss renting though.

Seems to me that Twitch and YouTube have replaced game rentals. I'm not a renter, personally-- the time crunch of a rental period doesn't work for my schedule, so I either buy or wait for a sale.

This is nowhere near me, in fact it is thousands of miles away, but it seems that Blockbuster is alive and well in Australia and they do rent games.

I think there's a Microplay north of me that rents video games, at least they did the last time I was there a few years ago. I haven't been inside it in a few years but the store still seems to be there.

Indeed, I pass through Microplay fairly often and they do still rent games.

    It really sucks.

I truly miss Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. Talk about not knowing it was a good thing until it was gone.

Redbox doesn't quite fit the bill for everything. Heck, the Redboxes in my area still don't rent PS4 or Xbox One. I would have to join GameFly to get PS4 and XB1 games right now. Can't rent them anywhere locally. Back in the days, I could rent tons of games with Blockbuster. I used to do their monthly plan. 2 at a time. Sure, it was quite expensive per month, but I could try a TON of games. I could constantly swap them, or keep two particular games for the whole month. I'd normally use them for a few months when all the big games start coming out during the fall. Much cheaper to rent and sample them and know for sure what is worth buying.

Some people think why rent games when you can try a demo, but it seems that demos are starting to get quite rare as well. During the 360 / PS3 days, demos were plentiful, now they are a rare event. I guess there is the twitch streaming and all of that, but I like to hold the control in my hand and get the feel for playing the actual game. Watching somebody play a game is great, but it doesn't tell me if the game has a good "feel" to it.

There are several Family Videos in my area, too. The one I go to opened back in the 16 bit era.
