Default What is your favorite Nintendo game from the different systems over the years?

They're really the only one to stand the test of time as far as gaming goes lasting in the US market 30 years now. For those old enough or just got into it more recently it doesn't matter, it doesn't even matter if you have one on every system, but what's your favorite game on the systems you've owned/used?

Anything is fair game, even the more unpopular and obscure too. NES/Famicom, SNES/SFC, Gameboy, GB Color, GB Advance, DS, 3DS, N3DS, Wii, Wii U, N64, GameCube, Virtual Boy, Pokemon Mini, etc. Try and keep it to one if at all possible just to see some variation in the lists.

Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Donkey Kong Country
Nintendo 64: Super Mario 64 (favorite game of all-time)

    Nintendo Wii: Super Mario Galaxy

This will probably change up in a few years as I build up my retro gaming library (which I just started to do this year).

N64: Super Mario 64 (No real favorite as I didn't get into the system much)
GCUBE: Animal Crossing / Super Smash Bros. Melee (Tie)

Oh god here we go. Favorite NES game is the hardest. Lemme just first say I love tons of Nintendo games but these r maybe the best experiences I've had with each system I've played, although I don't really have actual favorites. And I love lotsa the deeper cuts from each system too.

    NES - Kirby's Adventure
    SNES - Mega Man X
Gameboy - Super Mario Land 2
N64 - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina
    GameCube - Mariokart Double Dash
    Wii - Super Mario Galaxy

Then there's Bubble Bobble, Contra, Smash Bros, Goldeneye, all the other Mario Karts, A Boy And His Blob, Blaster Master, Xexyz, Ninja Gaiden, Star Fox, ok I'll shut up.

    Oh, man...tough question, Tanooki.

NES: Super Mario Bros 3 (Runner up: Super Tecmo Bowl)
SNES: Super Mario World (Runner up: LoZ: ALTtP)
N64: Super Smash Bros. (Runners up: Super Mario 64, Spiderman 64, Goldeneye, Kart 64)
GameCube: Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker (Runners up: Super Smash Bros. Melee, Sonic adventure 2 battle, Kart Double Dash, Twilight Princess, Resi Evil 4)
Wii: Not a whole lot of experience with the console, so I would have to give it to Smash Bros Brawl.
Wii U: Mario Kart 8 (Runners up: Wind Waker HD, 3D world, Super Smash 4)

    Gameboy: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
    Gameboy Color: Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
Gameboy Advanced: Pokemon FireRed/Leaf Green (Runner up: Ruby/Sapphire)
    DS: Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver
3DS: Toughy...Pokemon Omegaruby/AlphaSapphire and New Leaf take the cake.

Man, this was difficult. I am sure I am forgetting many, many great games too.

I made it tough on purpose. I didn't want a top list of as many for each, just forcing someone to pick their best per hardware with or without an explanation is tricky enough. And a nice side effect is that people could debate the why.

I get too nuts about stuff like this so while I've thought about making a list, it's something I keep second guessing so I haven't so far.

**Also if people want to, systems with iterations (their handhelds) you can break those up. The GBC alone had a five year life span which matches what consoles get and was a solid upgrade. If I had made this post 2 years from now and they pump out some good stuff I'd even say you could break away the 3DS and New 3DS into their own too. Like I will say of all the amazing gems that I ever had the pleasure of messing with on the GBC I would throw it to Warlocked of all things.

Imagine a no name studio few heard of somehow figured out how to basically convert the old DOS game Warcraft to the GBC. Keeping that in mind, it has over a dozen stages per good and bad side, and each has their own full growing tier of people and buildings to grow and upgrade, peons to farm the fields and build/repair stuff, large maps, nice music, good voice samples for each unit when commanded/selected, and the 'warlocked' part of it being hidden wizards in various stages which can do some cool spells. It amazingly played well even just using two buttons which surprised me, but then again a PC mouse does it with 2 buttons too very well (press button, used DPAD to corral off a square of people) release, then move crosshair to X and press button to do whatever action. It just works great. It's easy to throw it to a game like Mario Golf with that amazing RPG engine it had that they never captured as well since which is a shame or some other first party blow out like Links Awakening DX, but it really is that nice.

NES: Metroid. Right now I'm feeling Metroid. I got it on 3DS as part of the Ambassador's program and decided to mess around for old times sake. Got totally sucked back in and ended up finishing it. Holds up very well in my opinion. Love the exploration and music.
SNES: Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. Fantastic memories and still as fun as ever.
N64: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Yep.
GameCube: Star Wars Rogue Squadron II. Man oh man, this game....
Wii: Xenoblade Chronicles. Totally sucked me in. Just a hair over 200 hours. It's rare I play any game even 100 hours.
WiiU: Super Smash Bros for WiiU. Does almost everything right.
GB: Kid Icarus Of Myths and Monsters. Fantastic GB sequel to one of my favorite games ever.
GBC: Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening DX. Such an awesome game. And I didn't even play it until the early 2000's.
GBA: Advance Wars. Didn't expect a whole lot out of this and just got it so me and my co-workers would have something to play together. Game totally floored me.
DS: Animal Crossing Wild World. To me, it's the perfect DS game. Sunk so many hours into this one.
3DS: Animal Crossing New Leaf. The perfect 3DS game Put an ungodly(for me) 300+ hours into it.
Virtual Boy: Galactic Pinball. I love me some pinball games. It's a really solid game and the space vibe works well with the VB's constraints.
Super Famicom: Macross Scrambled Valkyrie. Goodness did this game enrapture me. I bought it thinking I'd enjoy it. I had no idea it would become one of my favorite games ever.
I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.

PC gaming lasted longer than 30 years though (of course it counts).

    Anyways:
G&W: Super Mario Bros (1988 version)
    NES: To the Earth
    GB: Donkey Kong
    GBc: The Fish Files
    GBA: Lady Sia
Pokémon mini: Are the games really good? Gimmicky really, I guess Tetris, just because I own it.
SNES: Unirally (Uniracer) (a real Nintendo classic)
    N64: Wetrix
    VB: Vertical Force
Game Cube: Lost Kingdoms (1 and 2)

No after year 2000 gaming for me, no DS, Wii etc

You know, I've never been a huge Nintendo gamer. I like Nintendo, a lot, but haven't played nearly as many Nintendo games and systems as most gamers. I was always more a fan of SEGA's offerings, and later the PlayStation and XBOX consoles. I think I've played more the the SNES library than any other Nintendo console, so I'm fairly ignorant of most of the Nintendo libraries.

If I had to pick, I suppose my list would be:

    NES - Metroid
SNES - Legend of the Mystical Ninja
    Nintendo 64 - F-Zero X
    Gamecube - Resident Evil 4
    Wii - Mario Kart Wii
    WiiU - Mario Kart 8

Game Boy - (?) I'm drawing a complete blank; I honesty don't remember many Game Boy games.
Game Boy Color -(?) Same situation as the Game Boy.
Game Boy Advance - Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire
DS - Dragon Quest Hereos: Rocket Slime

I've never played a Virtual Boy or 3DS outside of the store kiosks.

    Gameboy Advance - Advance Wars
    VB - Panic Bomber

Mario Party 5 - The complex and maze-like boards are fun to strategize with

Sin & Punishment - because of all the crazy action involved

Fire Emblem - Maybe a little sadistic at times but its uniqueness makes it different from all the other games in the same league

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - One of the best Nintendo games of all time, no doubt.

Diddy Kong Racing - Be it aerial, aquatic or on the ground, the power-ups are ultimate fun.

Perfect Dark - Scores high among the limited number of games available with a female protagonist.
