Default Japanese Turbo Duo DC to AC

Hi Friends, I'm Sorry If this is in the wrong Thread.

The Thing is I just Order a Japanese Turbo Duo off Ebay It comes with everything including the AV cables and Power Adapter.
The Thing is, I know I Can't Plug DC into US outlets, I was wondering If BestBuy or Radio Shack or the Internet Sold anything to Convert This.
I also Have this Power Adapter I got off ebay for the Super Famicom and Famicom Consoles, It's one of the ones that has one power brick with 2 inputs, one for Super Famicom and one for regular Famicom. I was wondering if I could use that.

Can Some one give me a site or point me to the right Direction?

Thanks for reading and any reply would greatly help out.

Here Is the Power Adapter that Came with it, Will This Plug in US Outlets?

This voltage converter can be used in 120 volt countries and 100 volt countries. It will convert from 120 volt to 100 volt AND from 100 volt to 120 volt.
I was wondering if I could just plug my Turbo Duo power adapter into that and plug that unit into the US outlets?

That voltage converter would work. The only possible issue between North American and Japanese adapters are the voltage differences for the input, that converter would take care of that.

Usually it would be cheaper to just use a different adapter but the Duo adapters are hard to substitute.

Thanks Gameguy , you think it's safe?
I already ordered it, when it comes in, do I plug my Turbo duo Power adapter to the input that's label 100v?
then the unit plug in the US outlets?

    Thanks for the Reply.

okay here an update, I got everything today, It works.
but my concern is the Step down/up Transformer, Is it suppose to give a strange taste in my mouth, lol I mean it's like a odorless smell but some how my mouth taste like copper, don't know if it's just me.
does anyone here have a PC engine Duo? and what Power Supply are you Using?

    Thanks guys.

Forgot to check back on this thread. Glad to hear it's working. No idea about the copper taste, maybe because it's still new and just breaking in. I'm assuming it's a cheaper model made in China so the components might not be the highest quality.

Thanks Gameguy, Yeah it's a used on off ebay, the power supply so big that it touches the on/off switch, I have to turn it on and then plug the PS.
I wanna use a extension cord but I'm scare it would do harm, I don't know. I would think US extension cords would be rated at 120v +, and if I would plug that in the transformer 100v input it would damage my duo.

With extension cords it's more important to pay attention to the wattage rating. If a device requires a higher wattage than what the cord is rated for(or a lot of items are plugged in and running at the same time) then the cord can become damaged and dangerous. The ratings are all for maximum tolerances, using a 120V cord for 100V current isn't a problem.

Are you asking about using the extension cord with the step converters' output, and plugging the Turbo Duo adapter into it? It would probably be fine as the Turbo Duo adapter doesn't use much current by itself, most extension cords can easily handle this. If you're asking about plugging in the step converter into an extension cord and then plugging that into a wall outlet, I would be more cautious. I'm not sure how much current the step converter would be using while it converts the voltage, you might need a better quality extension cord to handle this.

hey Gameguy, Thanks for helping me out.

yeah, It's the 1st one, Plugging in the duo Power adapter to the extension cord then plugging that into the step transformer (100v) and from the transformer into the US outlet.
maybe i'll open up the transformer and switch the plug inputs, like switch the 100v to the 120v, so the giant duo adapter won't touch the on/off switch.

Hi again guys, the old step transformer is great but old Japanese retro consoles come with giant Power adapters, it keeps hitting the on/off switch.
so I ordered this one, I was wondering if this one would work for my Japanese game systems.

i'm just concern that the US front input is 117v, also the rear is switch to 117v, is it okay for US outlets?
    So heres the order Japanese Game Console(100v) ==> (100v) Step Transformer==> (117v) ===> (120v) US outlet.

    here's a pic I did to show.

In all honesty, you have two really easy solutions to this...

Do like I do. I actually have my JPN turbo duo's JPN power supply plugged directly into my outlet without any issues. Have had it this way for several years now. I've heard that essentially the current is less on our US power hence the higher voltage as compared to other countries. Therefore, the JPN power supplies will work just fine on our power here.

The other solution if you want to make it easier, cheaper, and give you much more peace of mind is this...

    http://console5.com/store/accessorie...ter-cable.html

This would allow you to use a Sega Genesis power supply instead of the JPN provided one on your Duo. We have a game store here in town that buys these and sells them with their JPN Duos when they get them in stock just to avoid this issue.
