Default Sacred Line Genesis Is Now Available From Watermelon

You can purchase it right now for $39 on Magical Game Factory (WaterMelon’s own game store) and international shipping is free. For that price, you get the game cartridge, a color instruction manual, a paper insert for a clamshell box, and “extra goodies.” It works with any PAL or NTSC Sega Genesis / Mega Drive.

Sacred Line Genesis has you playing as a private detective called Ellen who lives in eastern Europe. As her business isn’t doing well, Ellen decides to shut shop, but as she is about to close it down a mysterious phone call tells her to investigate a hidden forest outpost, so she does.

Of course, a nightmare awakens on Ellen from there one. The game has multiple endings to discover and plenty of secrets to find along the way.

Looks awesome, Mr. Darko. I'll be ordering.

The best part of Pier Solar, for me, is the artwork, characters and story. It really does draw you in. I'm not wild about the combat, but that's another thread altogether...

Anyway, those aspects appear to be WaterMelon's strengths and a game like this seems to play off them nicely. Looking forward to playing it!

That looks pretty nice, shame I have no strength in playing such games, I get lost/fed up and stop. I wish they'd keep focus though, this one seems out of nowhere and they've been collecting pre-pay through gems on that SNES game of theirs and stuff.

Is the trailer playing sounds from the actual game? I know somebody else was working on silent hill for the genesis but it didn't have sound because the text-adventure engine didn't really support it or something.

Yes, it does. It's actually the only game on the system which features full PCM Audio (WAV) soundtrack. About 50% of space on the cartridge was used for the sound.

I guess I should probably bite on this release: I like Genesis Homebrews, and my second and third genre loves are horror and adventure games.

Thanks for the heads up on this! Just placed my order. Looks intriguing in a "D" kind of way. Very much looking forward to playing it!

So, it was really cool, but also rather short. Is there more to it that I'm missing?

When's the next one coming out? There's a lot of open ends in the story. And darn it, now I'm hooked.

The genesis color palette and mechanical-sounding audio really add to the creep factor.

It can be completed in 50-90 minutes, and it's the way it's supposed to be.

Sequel and spin-off are both in development, but their release is in question (not to mention that sequel requires a higher budget - more characters, more difficult environments like ruined city, etc.)

    Default A batch of reviews

Video Review by Gunstar (US, GunstarHeroes777 Channel)
Sega-16 Reader Roundtable Review by Joseph C. (US, Sega-16.com)
Game Treasure Magazin In-Depth Review by Gordman [Deutsch] (Germany, gordmansgametreasure.com) - HUGE review which covers everything and features exclusive screenshots from Sacred Line Zero

All coming from buyers. I kinda get the impression that there weren't any review copies.
