Default 1989 Zelda Watch Wall Clock

Some of the long-time members here may remember this which I picked up in early 2004:

Yes, It's that big of a clock. I know that InsaneDavid on here has one and he said he saw one other, last time I checked (maybe he's seen more by now?) and I saw one other clock similar to this,̶ s̶a̶n̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶w̶a̶t̶c̶h̶ ̶p̶a̶r̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶i̶t̶ it was only the centerpiece however and it was the only one I ever saw on eBay. Someone here made a thread about it and had it for sale then, though by now it may have been a year or two ago when I saw it.

I tested the clock just before posting and it did not work. I was using it for years but eventually I put it away without a battery in it for storage. It uses one AA battery. I don't imagine it would be costly to get it working again.

Have you ever seen any of these for sale other than the one I mentioned? I'm willing to sell it once I get more of idea about it. Maybe I could get it working before sale.

EDIT: See the strikethrough part and the "only the centerpiece however" part.

I can't speak for value, never seen one. Dear lord that thing looks like it should be the WWE title belt for Zelda or something, it's gigantic.

As for getting it running, that could be tricky. They didn't build things like that to a high quality standard, best bet take it to a watch repair store and hope for the best. Problem is the bill to repair it might exceed the value of the item depending on it's cost. So, yep first things first find the value of it.

Wow, very cool item. My sister had a similarly styled Smurfs watchband clock, which I saw recently as a prop in Adam's room on The Goldbergs!

Couldn't you just buy a clock mechanism? They're usually only a few bucks at your local hardware store.

Thanks. I admit a few people have asked about buying it, though I find it a bit silly to say what they offered as it depends on the person asking.

I've seen one in a photo here, I imagine it's from a catalog:

I did put a brand new battery in it to test it, but I didn't try the battery anywhere else. Maybe it's just not getting power.

I love that catalog. Read the small text on the bottom.

That's a really cool clock, I don't know anything about the value though.

Whoa whoa whoa, where is this catalog from? I'm assuming it is a modern spoof?

It's possible a wire leading to something on the board or from the battery connector to the port rotted or popped. Those things aren't exactly high tech wonders inside so there can't be all that much to fail so it probably could be fixed.

I know this came up on NA probably 2 years back now, can't recall if it was the watch band version or the removed circular center clock version but people were chomping to pay a lot to own it but I don't remember what. I'd have been happy with anything from the basic one of that or the Mario one as they're both cool.

Nintendo Power Magazine for a few years every quarter has a power supplies catalog with a mail order form inside where you could get all sorts of stuff like that image has and far more. Nintendo has it's own little clothing, watches, lunchbox, and furniture monopoly going of all their branded junk.

Well, yeah, I know there was mail order through nintendo power and all, but did you read that text? Hard to believe that made it into a catalog for (mostly) kids, let alone a nintendo catalog.

Yeah for the period it was fairly harmless, but by today's standards it's a total rapey moment going on there and would never get published. I had NP 1-cancel when future one bought it out and the first issue had some writers slamming Nintendo which infuriated me I was paying for that kind of crap I could get for free from Nintendo hater trolls on gaming media websites and forums in the day. I've read through all those things at least a couple of times up until I ditch the few 100 lbs of paper it consisted.

I remember reading that catalog ages ago online, the entire thing is a spoof with all the small text replaced. I don't know where it originated but I found a site featuring the entire thing. Pretty much my favourite part, "If you actually wear all this stuff at once, we're legally obligated to pay you ten cents for every person who looks at you."

    http://www.slightlywarped.com/crapfa..._catalogue.htm

lol at Tanooki for believing the "for the times your uncle rapes you" text as being official Nintendo approved.

I didn't see this when I posted my first reply. Maybe I could. I haven't looked at the clock much yet.

Also, per the text at the bottom of the later image I posted: I didn't catch that until after it was pointed out.

This looks like it's probably the original text, if you want to compare:

I was just trying to get it to work, and apparently it's intermittent. (See below...)

So, the original ad was apparently like this:

    ...

Anyway, on subject of the clock working: It looks like a connection issue. I tried squeezing the clock mechanism on the back and it worked, though at some times the second hand altered between going backwards and forwards. So I stuck a guitar pick in between the battery and top of the battery slot (not between the terminals) and it worked for a bit then stopped. Then I took the front cover off and it started working again.
