Default 1989 Sega Genesis Altered Beast Package (Sans controller and RFU)

Here I have a original run, non-chipped Sega Genesis.

I did use this some years ago and it worked then; of course that's then, not now. But when I used it I stuck a Budokan cart in it which worked; It did not work on later systems that I had at the time.

More photos - the box was damaged, undeniably:

    Back:

    Top:

    Top again:

Missing one of the tabs on the box:

Console, Styrofoam, Game Box and Power Adapter:

Manual, Various papers, game and game box:

    Finally, to show it's a non-chipped Genesis:

So, what would you say it's worth - that is, with and without the RFU and controller? I'm thinking of getting those and I'm sure the value would go up if I did that. I know these original run models came with controllers that had red lettered buttons so I may have to get one of those. I haven't actually tested the system on a TV since I don't yet have something to test it with. It does turn on at least.

*UPDATE* I did get a controller and RFU. The system turns on and plays, the first controller port works, the Channel 3/4 switch works and so does the volume slider. I haven't tested the Sega CD bay or the other A/V out plug though. Also, The controller (A mega-fire type with the red buttons) does work but the C button must be pressed hard to work. The controller casing looks to be in good shape though.

That's a weird one, many have sold on ebay for well over $100, in fairly good condition. Yet some have sold for much less in the same condition. Yours is pretty rough, idk maybe $40?

Thanks. If it works and I'm sure of it and I included a controller with it, I'm guessing it would be worth more; Maybe $60-$70?

Good memories. I remember buying this exact set when I was in high school. Think it set me back $250 then. Wish I still had it.

I was going just based on the condition of the box. You may well get $60-70 though.

So, $471.18 with inflation in account according to this site: http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm

I forgot to say "And RFU" in the earlier reply. But it does look like maybe I could get at least $50 for it with a controller and RFU. Thanks.

The manual for Altered Beast would also help you a little too.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

I got an RFU and controller, though the controller's C button must be pressed hard to work. I may return it. The system does work though I haven't tested the other video/audio out plug or the second controller port or the Sega CD expansion bay.

And thanks, yes a manual for Altered Beast would help in the sale.
