Power is relative, the fastest CPU doesn't mean the most, it's the overall package.

in between NES and TG-16 there should be Sega Master System there somewhere. You should know your systems before you even make this thread.
Regarding the hardware power of 6th gen consoles, it was:
1. X-BOX
2. GameCube
3. PlayStation 2
4. Dreamcast
Gamecube was easily the most efficient and 'punched above its weight' but Xbox was still more powerful because of its GPU.
With regard to the big 3 (PS2, GCN, XBOX) there were technical areas where each had various strengths and weaknesses.
i.e. PS2 had the most powerful CPU in terms of floating point, but then the Emotion Engine was part of the graphic pipeline since Graphics Synthesizer was just a pixel pusher having no geometry processing on chip (the EE did all that). The Gamecube had the lowest latency RAM, a decent GPU and a good CPU. The Xbox had the largest GPU which was based on programmable shaders and also the most amount of RAM. Although the Intel CPU was 733 MHz it was more or less equal to the 485 MHz PowerPC CPU in Gamecube.
