Default Games You Wish Were Remade into 16-Bit

Does anyone have any favorite 8-bit-era games they wish were remade into 16-bit Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis style graphics???

    My picks:
    Clash at Demonhead
    Faxanadu
    The Battle of Olympus
    Legacy of the Wizard

If yes, which developer do you think would be best in achieving such a conversion?
Visual Concepts (Taz-Mania, Claymates, Clay Fighter)
    Rare (Donkey Kong Country trilogy)

Yes to all of those. If Legacy of the Wizard was released today as a tough indie title, it would praised for its innovation on the Metroidvania theme as opposed to being called too hard and outdated. Friggin' awesome game.

    Some I'dve enjoyed:
    Guardian Legend
    Getsu Fuuma-Den
    Rygar
    Dr. Chaos
    Wai Wai World
    Space Hunter
    Air Fortress
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
    Golvellius
    Rescue: The Embassy Mission

I'll be unoriginal and say Kid Icarus. This is because someone was a mean tease in the later 90s and made a demo acting like it was some lost test or something of the sort in making a Super Kid Icarus and it looked awesome.

I think some of the weaker arcade ports on the NES could have been awesome with the full color palette and rich audio of the SNES. Imagine something off the wall like Spy Hunter if it had the Peter Gunn track using sampled instruments and the road, cars, explosions and the rest were a lot closer to the box art style quality over what was there (or even in the arcade.)

I would have loved to see TMNT The Arcade game come to the Sega Genesis or SNES. The NES port was good for what it was, but I would have loved a 16 bit console port.

I wish Metroid II had been given the Zero Mission treatment on the Game Boy Advance.

I believe that the GBA is considered 32 bit, but since it's widely viewed as being a handheld system with capabilities akin to the Super Nintendo, I believe this one falls within the spirit of this topic.

I'd agree with that. Zero Mission was an awesome remake. Return of Samus, if done with the same care, would probably be even better.

I thought this would be about modern games being remade into 16-Bit. For 8-Bit into 16-Bit, I guess all of them? I can't see how any would be worse for being made into 16-Bit, assuming nothing about the gameplay would be altered.

I personally hope Nintendo will never bother with remaking Metroid II. It's not that I don't think it could be great, it's just I'm of the opinion that for all the effort that Nintendo would need to go to properly remake Metroid II to fix all that was horribly wrong with the original GB release, they'd be better off making an new, original Metroid game. Metroid II is a game about crawling around in tight caverns seeking out and killing Metroids. Even if the gameplay was tweaked and graphics made more proportional so Samus doesn't take up thiree quarters of the screen, the core of what Metroid II is would not change, and it would be a damn shame if Nintendo focused on modernizing a game that would be flawed no matter what rather than an entirely new Metroid game.

Imagine a new game like with fresh ideas like Fusion had, but without the constant handholding, overly horizontal layout, annoying X-parasite bosses and eye bleedingly bright colors.

Imagine a Metroid game that's even better than Zero Mission, just as Zero Mission was an even better game than Super Metroid.

Now that you've imagined that, tuck it away and forget all that because Nintendo will never allow another 2D Metroid, or at the rate they're going, never make another Metroid game themselves period.
    Just like F-Zero.

I totally agree with that. I can't even play that game anymore because it's just so infuriating without a map and the gray scale as you just end up going in circles. I'm not sure I'd buy it again even now that I have a GBC once more (same with that second Kid Icarus.)

Thinking about it more though, given there is a really excellent picture used to paint this mental image -- Kirby's Dream Land 1 and 2 boosted to the quality of 3 on the SNES.
