Default Nintendo NES RF adapter fuzzy/snowy screen

    Hi Guys,

okay here's the thing I went thru 4 Nes RF adapters, some better then others , but not clear.
I have no idea, the screen if fuzzy/snowy, I'm using this on a old tube tv.
do I have to clean the tip? and how?

I heard wd-40 but scared to use it. it's not the console because I used AV on it.
this is for all my systems that uses RF.

I also have a tomee rf off ebay and that didn't come in clear (it was also new in box)

thanks for reading and any reply would help out.

maybe I try getting other RF's on other systems, because the NES one it pretty old.

Don't use wd 40. It doesn't conduct but it doesn't clean either.

How snowy? Like barely see what is on screen or you can see the game pretty well but still some static?

Old RF adapters are either crappy or have simply worn out by now. Don't use WD-40, you're thinking of electrical contact cleaner, which still won't help. If you must use RF, consider getting a coax cable preferably one that a cable TV provider uses (thicker industrial strength), and connect that to the TV. Then get a a M-phono to F-Coax adapter (RadioShack still has them). Improves the signal a lot.

I've had both a NES and a Sega Genesis with bad RF where I had to use A/V instead. If there is no difference between your two are of cables it might be your system.

The RF adapters are really just switches, so it's unlikely that they are all defective.

If only one console is affected: RF modulator in the console is out of adjustment

If multiple consoles are affected: Damage to F-plug on TV, TV demodulator adjustment issue, or other cabling problem

If multiple consoles and multiple TVs are affected: Aliens
