Default Virtua Racing for the Genesis won't boot up.

Picked up a copy of Virtua Racing awhile ago but it won't boot past the "Produced By Or Licensed By" screen, tried on a Model 2 and an X'Eye with the same results. Is this a common issue with Virtua Racing on the Genesis? Is there a fix for the cart? First time I ever ran into a busted Genesis cart.

Virtua racing was the one with the co processor on the cart to compete with the super fx chip right?

Yup, Virtua Racing had the SVP coprocessor in it.

Virtua Racing runs fine on my Genesis Model 1. It doesn't run on my Super Retro Trio (which works with SMS adapter) but there is a simple fix for that. I hope you get it working. It's a fun game even if the 3D is a bit crude.

SMS adapter is largely something there to ground a single pin, nothing that amazing. If the Retro Trio is an emulator it dumps the ROM and loads that up and if it doesn't emulate the SVP then it won't work or it'll load up sans polygons.

I can tell you a damaged VR cart will boot up just without polygons. My first one did that and I thought it was an issue with my Genesis.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

I remember reading some thing a while back about how the grounding on these caused problems due to that co processor needing a bit more juice.

Problems like dirty ground contacts generally. It probably would have benefited from a chassis ground like some of the snes games. Give the contacts a good scrub with a hi polymer eraser (one of those white ones) and see if there's any change
