Default Have 2 model 2 sega CDs no power to CD

Just as the title says. I used all the connections to my working Sega CD too. The genesis works on both, but no power to the CD systems. Any ideas? Junk or salvageable?

    Did you check your fuses?

Same thing happened to my first Sega CD 2. I'll be doing surgery in about a week to try and fix it.

I saw a you tube video where it seems likely that the fuses are no good. Is that the most common reason they don't get power?

The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Not to say this is a power thing, but since you will have your Sega CD open. Do yourself a favor and check to see if it has the old white grease on the white gears under the disk tray. If it does carefully clean that gunk off and put some new grease on there so everything will run smoothly. I had 2 I worked on in the past year that both had solidified grease ruining everything. It does depend on the conditions it is stored in and climate. But it is always worth checking out. Just an FYI.

FYI, no sega CD should be junked, there are lots of capable people out here that can repair or use them for parts. If you decide to give up, i will take them both off your hands for "junk" prices

Yeah I myself could use one for parts.
I fix things. You name it, I'll work on it. Want something modded? Recapped?

Well I picked up a soldering iron and some fuses and cracked those two sega CDs open. They are now both working units with minimal effort. Seems to be fairly common knowledge at this point around the web, just figured I'd add to another success story.

I had this happen years ago, the post is on the forum. It's what happened after trying to use a NES power adapter in the system.
