Question Original Xbox ?Fried power board?

    Hello!

I just got my hands on an original Xbox.
It is an american model, thus needs a 100V - 12W power input.
I live in Europe, and I am pretty sure it has been plugged into a regular 220 power plug, because it won't turn on and there is a very faint smell of burnt plastic.
If that is the case, how extensive can the damage be?
Will I need to replace just one fuse, the entire power board, or is there a chance that other parts of the xbox have also been fried?
Also, if I replace the US power board with a European one, will it work?
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

    Cheers!

I once bought a replacement XBOX power supply. It had an internal switch to switch between 120-240.
Don't go away mad....just go away!

There could be all sorts of nastiness inside, ranging from as small as blown fuses to a fried board, blown capacitors, or other damages not visible to the naked eye. Only thing to do is pop it open, get out your volt meter, and see if it's worth the effort.

Whatever you do, remember to be cautious when dealing with the power supply. I once accidentally touched the wrong thing on my Xbox power board when I had the system open to check something or other and zapped myself something awful. My arm was tingling for days after. The Xbox itself was fine, though.
