I know its odd, but does anyone have broken 2.5" laptop 500GB SATA drives? By broken, it may be not functioning, with severe problems, or just a paperweight. Any brand will do.
Thanks in advance!

Aren't you going to tell us what you plan to do with them? Harvest magnets?
The magnets are second.
The main reason is for data recovery. Before we ever got a Bluray, we would do massive backups on nearly every extra HDD we can find. My brother, for instance, would download so much J-POP videos/music and anime, that many of them were backed up on those tiny drives, particularly the external ones with enclosures.
Unfortunately, I have around seven that simply won't work when connected. The drives spin, but that is it. I hope on changing the IO boards with defective units with the hopes that I can have at least some access, even like a "low level" access and be able to get the data from the damaged drives. Or at least as much as I can back up. The drives are from Hitachi, Samsung, Western Digital, and Seagate (most are this brand).
I know it's a hassle, but if i can access that data, I would be happy. Then I can back them up to a Bluray or online storage (or the RAID setup I plan on making in January). I want to give it a shot.
If nothing, then those magnets would be neat, as I have plenty of uses for them, specially when I tutor.
