Default Castlevania 1 Crazy Credits - Jone Candies?

When you watch the crazy ending theme for the first Castlevania game, and I do understand the intent of it, there is one punny name that sticks out like a sore thumb, and that pun is "Jone Candies."

While it was supposed to be a play on John Carradine's name, the surname alone gives the impression that it makes me think it's instead the late Canadian comic actor John Candy (1950-1994). Additionally, I wonder if the Konami brass had originally intended to use "John Candy" as the pun until they had somehow found out about him, who in 1987 was still a big star (The Blues Brothers, Fletch, Home Alone) and so they changed the spelling to avoid a lawsuit from him.

I remember the night I finished Castlevania, it was one of those 2:00AM way past my bedtime gaming sessions. It was a hard won victory, Dracula's first form was too much for me at first. I remember looking at all those crazy credits in a WTF state; I had no idea what they were referring to. Beyond Bella Lugosi, I still don't know what they're referring to.
