Default Original XBOX-replacing the power supply

    Hi!
I have a US issued 110Volt Xbox with a burnt out power supply,
and a EU 220Volt Xbox with a faulty hard drive.

If I connect the 220V power supply board (EU, working) to the US motherboard, will it work? Or will it mess up the motherboard/hard drive?

You won't fry the Xbox because each power supply should be converting the 110 or 220 to whatever the system requires. However, if you use a 220 then you can't plug it into an outlet in say North America, which only supplied 110. Are you in Europe?

Secondly, what version Xbox do you have, because Power supplies were different for 1.0, 1.1-1.2, 1.3, and 1.6. Or something like that.

I live in europe, yes, and I am interested in putting the EU powerboard in the US system. What do you think?

Those versions are not compatible at all. I actually have a v1.3 psu assembly, if that's what was in the US system. Mine is US. You could have it for free, although the shipping could be a bit much. What's wrong with using the European-based v1.6?

I found the eu one in the garbage, it has a faulty hard drive and it won't boot up. I tried figuring out how to replace the hard drive, but did not have any luck with that...

Thank you for all your help! How much do you think that shipping the power supply to Europe would cost?

You cannot simply replace an Xbox HDD. They are locked to the motherboard. Although they can be swapped pretty easily after you soft mod it, it's a LOT more work to do it if the HDD is dead.

How certain are you that the Power Supply on the v1.3 is what is bad? Those had a lot of problems with bad motherboard traces.

I'd need to know your specific country, but it's probably in the $25 USD range.
