Default 2016 - Yearly Finds Thread

    {Moderator's note: This is the 2016 thread for game finds, console purchases, gaming gifts received, and pick-ups of video gaming paraphernalia. Please post your newest pick-ups and finds!}

I will start this off with...

    I found another snes/n64/gc a/v cable for $1
a Pokémon Diamond and Emerald Nintendo Power Guide for $3
a purple thing I thought was a wizard hat but turned out to be a lamp shade for $2

I took pics but I cant find my USB cable so i'll post em if I ever find it.

I should invest in a Bluetooth dongle so I can just push them from my phone to the computer

I was prepared for a weekend of video gaming purchases on the U.S. but I returned to my country disappointed and a bit sad of the present of chains like Gamestop.

Gamestop hasn't been the best experience for years but I usually found a few games in one of the stores, this time I didn't even bought one game. The stores I visited were sad and the stock was really nothing interesting for me. I saw Fallout 3 GOTY and Fallout Anthology for PC for a very good price but the overall sad feeling I had when I checked the store made me just get out with my wallet intact.

The currency exchange was another factor and I really need to value the "paradise" I have in my city with many video game stores with a good variety of retro and current releases.

I arrived to my city and I had a package sent from ebay:

Zelda Ocarina JP CIB for 16usd
Threads of Fate CIB, Grandia without manual and Star Ocean CIB for 76 usd. - Unfortunately I had a bad experience with my purchase, the seller listed Threads of Fate as EXCELLENT DISC and the reality was much different: rebuffed disc with a very deep scratch that makes the game crash .... Grandia and Star Ocean was described as great condition and the reality was another thing.

Too sad to have sellers lying about the condition of the games. I have the option to return, but living in Mexico is really much trouble, expensive and slow so I took my loss.

Technically these purchases are all from December. But since there’s already a January thread, I’m posting them here instead.

    Games/Gaming Accessories:

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Lionheart Edition (PS3 Version, New) - Retail Price

I was actually planning on getting the regular edition later. But my local EB Games still had one sealed copy of the LE left, so I bought it on impulse.

Hori Duraflexi Protector (New) - $9.99

I discovered some paint chips in the top of my Mario & Luigi Dream Team LE 3DS XL, and I have no idea how it happened. So I bought this cover to try and avoid any more damage.

    Books:

Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete Official Strategy Guide (Used) - $39.99

I had been eyeing this copy of the guide on Amazon Canada since October. The seller originally had it priced at $69.99, but by December he reduced the price to what I paid. I just received it today, and it’s worth every penny!

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Adventure Volume 6 (Used) - $2.99

    Blu-Rays/DVDs:

    Big Hero 6 (BR/DVD Combo, New) - $24.00

    San Andreas (BR/DVD Combo, New) - $11.99

Shrek: The Final Chapter (DVD, New) - $4.99

    I found Tiger Woods 99 for $1

it has ZZDUMMY.DAT intact and I was able to watch the south park pilot off of it.
are there any other physical differences to the revised version of this game without the south park episode on it?

Not that I usually find getting a good deal on a game online a find, but I did end up with Trip World (GB-JP) for $75+ Mario Kart GBA cart only. The game usually runs $200+.

Cart has the usual discoloring plastic found on lots/most Japanese carts with an excellent sticker, very clean pins/board. Not a long game but a fun one and amazing attention to the details with visuals/audio for the era/system. Definitely something to hold on to.

    Default February 2016 Finds

i'm starting this again because I guess I am just lucky at the beginning of the month:

    I got...

Size:	127.5 KB
ID:	8463

    Pandemonium (PSX) $2
    Mario Paint (SNES) $5
    Ka-Blooey (SNES) $5
    Ribbit King complete (GC) $5
Kirby Air Ride case and manual only (GC) $5
Kirby Air Ride Complete (GC) $5
The Adventures of Cookie & Cream complete (PS2) $5
    E-Reader Loose (GBA) $3
    SNES controller $5 (not pictured)

got a hot tip that a goodwill had SNES games, my friend bought the good ones but didn't see the STACKS of PS2 and Gamecube games on the rack behind so I got them all for $5
one Kirby air ride is missing a disc and is in a rental dvd case from blockbuster but the paper in the cover and manual are in really good shape. The PC version of the same game has the black lable disc in it and I think if I go back and have time to hunt i'll find the second copy in another case. the rest were fine. I got all of this minus pandemonium on my lunch break.

Funny thing is I found Pandemonium at the same good will on Saturn, and this copy came from the same place the day before.

upon getting back to work with my loot I was going through it in the break room and it led to one of my co workers being reminded to ask me if I wanted something of theirs that they were going to junk.

I paid for it already but I am going to keep it a surprise until I have it in my possession and I can take pics. Its a really hard to find item. I pick it up sunday morning before work. i'll make a regular thread about it because I have questions about it too..... plus bragging. I don't often but I am gonna have to

Looking forward to the mystery find. I picked up a Cookie and Cream last year at a Salvation Army for a couple bucks too... you did great on that Ribbit King. I bought both versions for $4.99 when I discovered it years ago, and snapped up a few extras for friends that year. That GC version seems to go for a good $60 these days. Crazy.

this is the backer paper that you would see in a store behind the price tags in a rack. some one asked if I wanted it and I said sure why not. it was getting tossed.
about 4ft long and an inch and a half (ish?) wide it could really be a good little fiddly bit to have if you are rocking old Nintendo display cabinets and want to go the whole 9 yards.

I should really be in bed since I have to be up around 9 to go get my "mystery find"

if I had more lead up time I should have started a guessing contest!
maybe next time. if there is a next time

Good weekend considering what I found for just $20 locally.
    Attachment 8468

Lego was $3, Indy book $2, Bubble Bobble $5, and G1 Transformer Cliffjumper for $10.
-- Mega Man I found later last week for $7 which is half the going rate.

The fun part I guess of this was the Lego if anything. It was mostly sealed up with tape, had a note on it saying something like 'Maybe missing pieces' for $2.99 at a peddler place in town. I knew even if most of it was there given the piece count great deal. I get it home, throw it out on the carpet and use the side of the box to line up everything. Stunningly every single piece plus one spare ruby red 1x1 smooth flat piece as well plus both booklets. It's a last year set that went for like $20-25. I found BB at one of the BME's in town and that's like $5-10 under value, and same day Indy was at the other one just up on a curiosity rack. I found Cliffjumper today, tends to go for $15-20 so it was solid.

the other day when I got back from my hot tip off that goodwill had the games above a coworker asked me if I wanted a "17 inch tv with a game boy inside" I said sure why not thinking it might be a old woodgrain tv with built in pong which would still be cool. but when she started talking about the games its then I realized what it was. I did tell her that it has the potential to be very valuable and to look it up online in the condition it was in and go from there and in the end she said she didn't have the energy to list it on any site so I made my offer...
    heres more pics

she said her favorite game was Dr.Mario and I think its been in the tv since it was new. check out the dust line on the cart with it out side of the system...

this is the info on this one. i'm going to NA to submit it for their catalog and I am going to cross link it to here.

the story behind the tv is that this person I work with got it for Christmas in 1989, it came from a local k-mart that has since shut down and her mom bought it for her. My guess is k-mart gave good employee discounts because her mom was a worker there. the person I got it from is my fathers age so maybe mid 50's at most. Its been in the area I live in the whole time and this person actually now lives a street over from me so picking it up this morning was a breeze!

    that's the history of it.
it still has all 4 legs the 2 controllers and the remote, she's going to keep an eye out for the manual and the box, they may be rattling around. the games I got with it were 2x SMB/DH, SMB3, Tetris (that got soaked in cat piss), NES play action Football with manual, TopGun and SMB2. seems the cat got into the box and pissed in it, tetris took the brunt of the stream but really only damaging the back, its not strong and thankfully it didn't get on the remote or controllers. the batteries for the remote were dead but I have no reason to doubt its working ability, if it is dead i'll get one of the remotes GameTechUS had showed on his you tube channel and swap guts.

ok so I left price out because I like to tease.
I've seen way worse tvs go for way more than what I paid

    I paid $200
after educating the owner and everything. she asked if it was something I was going to turn around and sell my self and I told her only if I fell on hard financial times and it was one of the last things I had left to sell
I never thought I would ever see one of these outside PRGE but now I own one. blows my mind

A little over $70 for all that, considering the back row I'd be pretty proud of myself.

Brutal is a weird one, seen pics and a few little clips over the years -- almost reminds me of like a more serious Usagi Yojimbo manga brought to life bruce lee style on all sorts of systems. Yet none of them last I heard had any real value which is a shame unless it stinks?

It mostly is this month but some bleed back into the last as I had to get some replacement stickers or a missing part or two to be complete. These aren't games, but what I've been replacing games with, LEGO and Transformers (G1.)

For starters got this about week ago -- Lego 10220 the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van, it had 2 cracked pieces and around a dozen missing of which all but 4 I could replace without an online order sadly but it's 100% now and whoever owned it first handled sticker placement like a champ as it looks so right.
    Attachment 8608

And then into Transformerland with some G1's the leaders, and some of their cronies -- Optimus Prime, Megatron, Astrotrain, Thrust, Warpath, Outback and some manuals/scan cards that go to existing or new.

I don't want to picture bomb the thread so a link is easier you can choose to look or not, but everything is complete (other than the missing 4 missile bits for Thrust, not paying $40 for that which is stupid.)
    http://s232.photobucket.com/user/tan...?sort=9&page=1

I cleared a spot on that shelf of mine with game and lego, up top for the smalls in that link along with prime's cab and big ol Jetfire. I've got them all up in robot mode both places, but Prime/Jazz and Megatron(w/full turret) and Starscream on my desk in pairs and also grand slam/rain dance in vehicle mode on my desk lamp base since his combined slamdance mode is kind of wobbly.

I found some oddball stuff today, if anything my little girl made out big time.

Personally I snapped up 3 gobots at $5/ea and DK Land 1 for old Gameboy for $5 too. The normal gobots were a shuttle and a dune buggy, then I guess the other is a super gobot, it looks like a german panzer tank and it's in amazing shape so that caught my eye.

I did find for $3 this Lego Racers plastic box with parts in it, ended up it was full and better yet it had that one on the box minus a wheel, but interestingly enough it also had 3 other cars. One is a stand alone pace car that's all there, then there were these 2 others that went into this fold out set(obviously missing) and besides like 4 parts on 1 car (other 100%) it's all there too. I kind of dislike the missing bit on that, especially the fold out set and the hood and plate on the orange/black car would be a pain to get. I'm thinking I may just give my kid all the lego cars instead of just the red/green one (I'll get the wheel) as she loves Lego stuff. I'm kind of picky about completion and no booklets.

Ok and then for her this is where she did well, I got her an 18" bike, very light wear, I'm guessing some girl had it and barely used the thing as the cream colored tires aren't really worn but in the center a little and few scuffs elsewhere. It's like a $100 strawberry shortcake bike, paid $20. I was telling her I'd get her training wheels, the old man said had had some, ended up having a new $20 box of them all steel with black hard rubber wheels on them and sold me that for $8 more. In a way I paid full price for training wheels ($20) and got a $100 bike for free. And then last Christmas there was that Disney Frozen Sing with Elsa doll for $50, found one as an open box product for $10 that hadn't been used. She had a good day.

Last Thursday I was gifted a complete in box Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark Boulder Escape LEGO set and also a Lego Americana Liberty Bell (has no lego set # as it was a limited road show thing they did years ago.) Also ended up getting The Martain on blu ray and the Hayao Miyazaki Complete Collection Amazon only sells with all the Disney released movies in there (like 12~) which is also on blu-ray. And I had picked up the Tiger Handheld Afterburner as well on ebay for $10 (usually goes around $30) which is a lot of fun. Damn thing was disgusting when it arrived dirty as hell and wouldn't respond, scoured it inside and out hardcore works great now.
