    Default HDMI to RGB/component

Technically not gaming specific, but certainly applies to gaming since modern consoles have HDMI outputs. I just got a 2002 Sony Trinitron CRT which is absolutely amazing, and it's got component input in the back. Can I use either an adapter cable or an actual converter unit to convert HDMI to RGB for this CRT? I read in an Amazon review for an HDMI/RGB converter box that the signal won't display on a CRT which sounds suspicious. Would like to know if this isn't an option unless I use an LCD TV.

If it's an EDTV, an HDMI converter should work alright. (plain cables aren't going to work. HDMI is digital, component is analog)
Component SDTVs don't accept 480p. A box will need to downscale for them.

Note that component is also incompatible with other types of RGB. SCART or VGA type devices involve converters as well.

Found out it's FD Trinitron WEGA and it doesn't support 480p just 480i, so I'd need a downscaler if I want to convert HDMI to either component or s-video.

    Thanks for your response.
