Default Need a TurboGrafx CD power base AC adapter. Any ideas?

I just got a great deal on a TurboGrafx CD with the power base, but it doesn't have a power cord. I'm having a hell of a time trying to find one. I read somewhere that it's not the same as the regular system. I'd love to get this beast going. I snagged Cosmic Fantasy 2 and Shadow of the Beast for it

    I̶t̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶1̶0̶.̶5̶ ̶V̶,̶ ̶7̶3̶0̶m̶A̶,̶ ̶c̶e̶n̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶n̶e̶g̶a̶t̶i̶v̶e̶.̶ ̶T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶a̶r̶r̶e̶l̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶t̶t̶y̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶n̶d̶a̶r̶d̶ ̶s̶i̶z̶e̶.̶

So, yeah, that isn't particularly common. But 10 V is. Unfortunately I don't know how sensitive they are to the voltage. Most machines would be fine with 10V instead of 10.5, but a turbografx CD isn't exactly typical. I'd be tempted to modify the cord of a 10V sega genesis adapter and use that, but probably should do more research.

edit: crap, the above specs are for the TurboGrafx 16 power supply, not the CD. Been a long time since I used the CD, and now I have no idea how I powered it.

Thanks for the quick response. I believe you have to have the 10.5V to power them both, but I'm not sure on the amperage. I can't believe there isn't a generic one out there.

As a TGCD owner since the system was new, I can confirm this.

The CD system came with a bigger power adapter. You can use the TG16 adapter to power just the CD unit as a stand alone CD player, which was useful to me in the 90's since it was my first CD player, but probably not terribly useful to anyone for the last 20 years.

Sorry, I have no advice on what to use for a replacement.

You can make an AC adapter using a GameCube power supply and the power cord from an external Iomega Zip drive that uses the 100 MB discs. The voltage rating isn't dead-on but it's close enough and it exceeds the amperage requirements of the system. It also fits reasonably well inside the TG16 CD system's standard carrying case. I've been using the one I've made for nearly a decade and it hasn't given me any problems.

Outstanding! I wonder if it would be easier to just track down a actual TGCD adapter though? ^_^

If you are seriously interested than I have a spare. I don't have a system to test it but I did read the voltage with a multimeter and it does indeed work. I am taking it to Too Many games this weekend to sell but I would hold it for you if you wanted. I did price it at $75 but would just trade it for something of equal value for you. I know how hard finding this kind of stuff is so let me know in a PM and we can work out a trade.

    Hope To Help

Any 12V DC 2A psu will work just fine as long as the polarity is correct.
